When Kevin meets the girl of his dreams, Abbey, on Chicago's "L" train, they connect immediately but he lets this golden opportunity slip away by not having the courage to ask her for her name and number.

Unable to find her, or forget her, Kevin and his buddies launch a massive campaign to locate Abbey. In the process he becomes Chicago’s poster boy for lost love and the target of every young woman’s affections. But the fates that brought Kevin and Abbey together on the "L" seem determined to reunite them, revealing that love will give you a second chance if you're willing to put yourself ON THE LINE.

ON THE LINE was directed by Eric Bross (Stranger Than Fiction, Restaurant) and was produced by Peter Abrams and Robert Levy for Tapestry Films - the team that brought you She's All That - along with Lance Bass' own production company A Happy Place and partners Wendy Thorlakson and Rich Hull. -- ©2001 Miramax [More]

The film delivers on its admittedly modest mission -- to painlessly effect a pop star's transition to movie actor -- despite being not very subtle.

A slight, cute charmer that, as far as pop-singers-turned-actors goes, is infinitely superior to the hideous Glitter and the even more wretched Spice World.

Plays like a Freddie Prinze Jr. movie without Freddie Prinze Jr. And wouldn't you know, that turns out to be a good thing.

Certainly, you could find far more unpleasant ways to while away 85 minutes.

Both guys do what they can with paper-thin material. Unlike many seasoned actors, in fact, they don't totally embarrass themselves.

At least it isn't as condescending or transparently synthetic as most niche-marketed daydreams for the high-school and junior-high set.

On the Line suffers from such a predictable plot, a stale script and sitcom-y production values that even 13-year-old females might find themselves bored.

This romantic comedy redefines the low-end of its genre, with a stale, predictable plot, 100 per cent fizzling jokes, awful acting and a sit-com quality production.
