Jeanette's (Valerie Niehaus) survival of a brutal serial killer's attack is bittersweet--granted, she escaped with her own life, but her parents were not so lucky. Traumatized, Jeanette spends most of her adolescence in a mental institution. Once released, she finds a job tutoring a group of priviledged teens, and thinks she may be ready to begin a relatively normal life.
