Critic Review - Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

Plath might have been the stupid cow that Paltrow plays, the stubbornly ambitious, jealous demonbit genius discontent, immune to the ordinary joys of life.

Your review sucks, Philip. I haven't seen the movie, but I'm writing a senior honors thesis about Plath's Bell Jar and Kesey's Cuckoo's Nest, and I curiously read some of RT's reviews of this movie. There's a nasty joke about what brothers and sisters do in Arkansas, and you know, I'd rather think that kind of backwards, imbred hillbilly crap is a mischaracterization. But when I read your insidiously misogynistic word-vomit (which I wouldn't normally have done - I usually only read reviews written by critics who matter) I couldn't help but think, "hmmm, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette - guess that explains it."
