The characters are magic. The dialogue, twisted and insane and perfect. The timing, fabulous. But then the storyline kicks in and, sadly, everything goes to hell. Well, maybe not hell... but a place very warm. And red. And Satan is there. Okay, it's hell.

Dick Murphy, the eldest of the Murphy brothers, has nothing to lose. He is part owner of a miserably failing t-shirt shack and his marriage to the beautiful Becky is careening headlong into the crapper. This, combined with a distaste for harassing mortgage lenders, has put Dick in a bit of a foul mood. Luckily for Dick, he has two younger brothers. Dinkadoo, a handicapped college student and Dave... a pot dealer. Dick, in hopes of beating the down payment blues, hosts a Thursday night Monopoly war at his house. It is here that we meet Hunter Bullette, Dinkadoo's 350 pound narcoleptic roommate. Hunter is a man of few words and many seizures. We are also thrilled to meet Kevin Haub, Dave's co-worker/pot dealer buddy. During the course of the evening the Murphy brothers inadvertently discover something quite amazing... The Map. They are shocked to find that their long lost parents, the Hippies Murphy, have bequeathed to them a map to a 'Magical Forest of Marijuana,' located in Kansas. To steal weed to sell, the Brothers Murphy, accompanied by Hunter and Kevin, rent a Lincoln Continental with a dubious history and embark on a once in a lifetime journey. "Rolling Kansas" is an offbeat road comedy with a heartfelt core. On the surface it is a quirky, hilarious voyage pitting five heroes against the law, the land and themselves, yet it is also a tale of self-discovery as the road to weedland takes many unexpected turns. -- © Gold Circle Films [More]

A lame-brained, pot-smoking comedy that's genial, good-natured and more than a bit funny.
