Rockslide writes: on Aug 16 2007 09:35 AM If I was Marvel I'd be doing the same thing, money, money, muhney. I'm just waiting for the full tilt Secret Wars $200 million battlefest. That would be sweet, or a huge Infinity Gauntlet film. Or a New Avengers film, the Avengers would be cool, but the New Avengers would be awesome. House of M, Marvel still has a ton of huge stories to bring to the screen. (Reply to this) |

Xylemicarious writes: on Aug 16 2007 09:59 AM Doctor Strange is one of the lamer superheros. When he gets in a tight spot, he uses MAGIC. Are there really any limits to that? (Reply to this) |

Koooomar writes: on Aug 16 2007 10:15 AM Just thinking out loud here, but how cool would it be if they got Del Toro to do this. I can see him having a blast with the Dr.Strange material. Also, Xylemicarious, have you ever read any of the Dr. Strange stuff? He really does have a lot of interesting stories. (Reply to this) |

opTIMus Nerd writes: on Aug 16 2007 10:19 AM Why anyone would say "sell-out" about anything, company or character I wonder what reality they live in?! What are you talking about?!?! This country is capitalist-land; Marvel is a company who has already made billions off of you in comics alone, then t-shirts, posters, trading card/card games, board games, toys, coloring books, kids books, cups, toothbrushes but now they have made some movies they are sell-outs? Der. Flipside, I want to see a Dr. Strange movie about as much as I enjoy seeing carpeting. (Reply to this) |

Sputnik99 writes: on Aug 16 2007 10:42 AM So many of you have insulted the idea of a Thor movie because you think he is a stupid character. Gentlemen and ladies, NOW I give you a stupid comic book character. Making a movie about a guy who wasn't even popular enough to have his own comic for a couple of decades? That is poor thinking. There are a lot more comics out there that Marvel should be looking to, not this has been/never was. C'mon, Marvel! Get the Avengers going! Or SHIELD! Heck, I'll take Alpha Flight over Dr. Strange! timmy_1411 writes: on Aug 16 2007 11:18 AM I was not excited at all for the Dr. Strange animated feature that just came out, but in my opinion it is the best animated feature Marvel has put out so far. It really makes Dr. Strange interesting, and now I wouldn't mind seeing a live-action feature if it was anything like the new DVD (Reply to this) |

Merlin235 writes: on Aug 16 2007 12:29 PM I'm not necessarily excited about this movie, and I would probably skip it. But to those who don't think magic sells, or that this could be interesting if it's done right I have two words: Harry.....Potter. (Reply to this) |

lpbreeze writes: on Aug 16 2007 12:57 PM I have an old Dr. Strange comic and its actually kinda cool. but having only read a few I cant saw I know anything about the comic. I have Dazzler no 1 and I still shudder when I think about it. Disco was almost as bad as the nazis (Reply to this) |

Shadowflare writes: on Aug 16 2007 01:15 PM Dr. Strange can be a deep and thoughtful character if done right. The DVD animated movie that was already mentioned is a classic example. I like Dr. Strange quite a bit as a character, even though I dispute that he needs his own comic title, and the universe constructed around his character is far more interesting and complex than anything Harry Potter has had to offer. Honestly, this would be better than Fantastic Four by lightyears. But will Marvel do the movie right like they did the DVD release? I'll reserve judgement on that until see how Iron Man turns out. :p (Reply to this) |

lostharvestmovie writes: on Aug 16 2007 02:14 PM yes Dr. Strange uses magic to get himself out of jams but he is usually up against some sort of Lovecraftian demon villain that a mere mortal like Spiderman would have big problems with; having said that, I think this movie might be best if it was really, really weird-- er, strange..... see my werid stuff for FREE! www.lostharvest.com (Reply to this) |

PlanBFromOuterSpace writes: on Aug 16 2007 02:20 PM It's just unfortunate (from a creative standpoint anyway) that Marvel still has so many of their other high profile characters tied up with other studios, as it would be incredible to just have one big movie Marvel Universe. As it stands, they still have some heavy hitters at their disposal, and an Avengers movie could be a lot of fun, but it's impossible to do some of the bigger stories (even a NEW Avengers film, like someone else said) without Spider-Man, Wolverine and the X-Men, and the Fantastic Four. I'm sure that Sony and Fox are in no hurry whatsoever to relinquish their rights to their respective cash cows, and I can't blame them at all, so we'll have to settle with what we can get right now. As far as the "Oh my God, I can't believe they're making a (Marvel character's name here) movie! That is sooooooo lame!" people go, do you realize that about the only thing Marvel HASN'T done with some of their characters is make them into movies? Even some of the "obscure" characters like Dr. Strange have had SOME presence in the mainstream since the 60's or 70's whether it was in cartoons, in TV movies, etc. These characters EXIST to create cash for the company, and if Marvel sees an opportunity to make even more money off of them, then good for them, and good for US as fans if they end up being enjoyable films. Starseeder writes: on Aug 16 2007 05:37 PM If they plan to turn Doctor Strange into a live action feature... well, maybe there is still some hope for a true Marvel LSD experience such as WARLOCK. (Reply to this) |

ipisking writes: on Aug 16 2007 08:08 PM Dr. Strange would make a good movie as long as they keep an adult theme to the feature. The Dr. Strange TV movie that was done back in the 80's was o.k. for that time but it was kind of tamed. I would look forward to seeing a Dr. Strange pic if treated properly. (Reply to this) |

MarkusCominToGETCHA writes: on Aug 16 2007 10:10 PM Directed by Michel Gondry Starring Johnny Depp or Orlando Bloom seems like a more interesting character than any other hero on the marvel market (Reply to this) |

ClericPreston writes: on Aug 16 2007 10:55 PM Seriously the only person I would even begin to consider for this role is Ben Affleck. Besides being one of the best actors out there at this point, with a Goatee he'd completely look the part. (Reply to this) |

Bigbrother writes: on Aug 17 2007 05:39 AM I'd like to see them take a noirish route with this one. Think The Shadow or the Phantom, only you know good. As for a star, What about Billy Drago...I know he's kinda been condemned to B movie hell, but I always enjoy him in a Christopher Walken-esque way. Timothy Dalton could be good as long as he doesn't go too campy or if you wanted to go a bit outside the box Paul Bettany or Robert Carlyle. I know they don't really look the part, but they're good actors who could handle the material and I for one think it's time to re-imagine the costume. Huge collars like that went out with Christopher Lee's Hammer Dracula. (Reply to this) |

Elixor writes: on Aug 17 2007 06:49 AM A Doctor Strange movie could be very cool. I like the character, but only have a few comics with him in them. As with most comic book movies, I don't have much faith that they'll be done correctly. (Reply to this) |

High School With Money writes: on Aug 19 2007 07:57 AM From my understanding, Doc Strange is one of the more sophisticated heroes of the bunch. Could be interesting if Marvel followed in kind with the movie. What I'm upset about is how much toy shelf space these annual properties will take up, only to be sold at clearance months later, from the much needed space for Star Wars. Can a brutha get a Concept Boba, for Fett's sake??? I'm just waiting for the full tilt Secret Wars $200 million battlefest. OH HAILS YEUH. Phuq Civil War. Gimme a Q precursor in an Elvis tracksuit anyday. (Reply to this) |

brainflow writes: on Aug 22 2007 06:02 AM No one forces anyone to watch movies. Marvel is now a movie company in its own right. They have all the rights in the world to develop their own projects. Don't be a jerk. Go watch the movies you like and we'll watch the moveis we like. (Reply to this) |

Brad 3000 writes: on Aug 22 2007 07:07 PM As long as they are making movies out of second and third tier characters, I would actually like to see a Cloak and Dagger movie. The comic may have never been a classic but the characters had a lot of potential and I think they would translate to screen really well. Also, there are a couple of the New Universe titles from the 80's that I think could be good - specifically Starbrand and DP7. ... Oh and maybe New Mutants circa 1990... (Reply to this) |
