Movie Info

Director Gerardo Herrero's compelling melodrama charts the personal journey of Malena (Ariadna Gil), a young woman coming of age and testing the boundaries of convention in post-Franco Spain. Driven to carve an identity separate from her rival older sister, the passionate Malena pursues lovers and loses herself in one sexual liaison after another. Marta Belaustegui co-stars in this sensual drama based on the novel by Almudena Grandes.
