Fifteen credited artists labored over the distinct animated style, a jerky collage in which cutouts of actors' heads are blended with animated bodies and surroundings; result is crude yet novel.

Yet Richie, the youngest of the Lakatos clan attempts to find a way to pacify the Csorba family, and especally their lovely daughter, Jules. As he soon reveals, the way to peace is through money, and that the only way to make money is to have oil. So the kids take a timetrip to the prehistoric age, and create their own oil reserves right under the district. After their return the exploitation of oil begins, radically changing the stance both in the school and in the general criminal environment of the area. Reviews for The District
Eye-popping as The District! is, the overarching geopolitical satire is a haphazardly lobbed grenade too dim-witted to be explosive.
By the time The District is over, one might not have a clear idea what the film is about in a singular sense. But as a free-associating spoof of the modernworld, it's a hoot.
There's so much going on in this animated Hungarian feature that if you don't have attention-deficit-hyperactivity disorder going in, you may well develop it by the time you exit the theatre, and I mean that as a compliment.
A raucously fun cartoon that combines raunchiness, political satire and hip-hop to sometimes exhilarating effect.
The Hungarian cartoon feature The District! is a last-minute shoo-in for the title of 2007’s most original animated film.
