Critic Review - Village Voice

Honestly, it would take several more dimensions to craft something special out of this adequate but unremarkable animated tale.

Honestly, I don't think you watched this movie. Maybe you were busy emailing on your Blackberry? From all the trailers, this looks to be one of the few Animated films on the caliber as classic Disney and Pixar films. Sorry to disappoint, but your credibility just dropped to the floor.

Ella? Ive watched the film, and it's astonishing. Honestly, your completely 1 dimensional if you feel this film is unremarkable. I'm so tired of critiques that have no idea what a great film is.. -owned

They always say to find a critic you agree with and stick with that person for future movie suggestions. This will be the last time I read a review from Village Voice. I disagree with your take. Parts of this movie brought tears to my eyes. I would recommend this movie to anyone who loves movies.

Saw an early screening of this, and thought it was quite possibly the best animated movie I had ever seen. The cinematography is unmatched (name one animated movie that can compete), the animation is phenomenal, and the story has action, comedy, and tons of heart. Kids in the audience loved every minute of it, and there were even moments where I was almost moved to tears. But, to you its unremarkable? Wow. You are misleading your readers big time.

That's funny, as not only do I disagree with your assessment, but I've found the Village Voice rather unremarkable and ultimately irrelevant for over a decade.

Oh, I know, you were the kid always picked last for kickball.

Ella, obviously you are to old and jaded to view this movie through the eyes of a child as it was intended. Maybe you should move on to rating retirement communities in your area.

That's definitely the vibe I got from the trailers, but I'll watch it and see if it's really as fantastic as 101 Dalmations, Fantasia, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White & the Seven Dwarves, Pinocchio, Dumbo, The Lion King, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Wall-E and Up as Mr. KK suggests (considering the types of movies Dreamworks Animations has been focusing on lately, it looks about as likely as Pixar making a live-action romantic comedy).

Ella Taylor thought bubble "hmm, seems like everyone is really reviewing this one well, if I give it a bad review maybe people will notice me!" FAIL

Top critic..huh? You have No credibility with me.
This film is very special. Parts of it brought tears to my eyes. The animation was incredible. Rated with the latest Pixar. I'm going to go see it again.

Honestly, Ella. I am shocked to see someone who found 'Land of the Lost' diverting be so pedantic on this wholly remarkable film. It is discouraging.

I wonder how it feel to be one of the few reviewers to ever diss Godfather or Toy Story when it first came out? Well, Ella, you must know that feeling pretty well. Sad when you appears to be so far out of touch.

If this review was anywhere public, that'd be embarrassing. Never taking a review from these critics.

3 for 3. This confirms what I suspected, you 3 critics are out of touch with the very people you're supposed to be representing and informing. Only 3 rotten ratings and all critics. Not often can a person say this on here but it's you 3 against the world. ~

If Mona Lisa's background is not of your 'taste' it become less wonderful?

A pity people like you misguide the public opinion. A shame.

They completely missed the main motivation in the first sentence. Hiccup was trying to -kill- a dragon to get his father's approval. When he found that he couldn't kill Toothless, he started connecting with and training him, with no thoughts about his father's approval.

Bad review in general. This movie was one of the few I've watched recently that stood out to me as deep.

When a movie makes you feel happy and full of hope even though the main character lost a leg, I don't understand how you could not see its beauty.

Since when does adequate mean rotten? Adequate would be a 6/10. Thanks for dragging this wonderful film down.
