Critic Review - Rolling Stone

Making Aldous regret his wicked ways is a buzz-kill of major proportions.

Absolutely agreed! Saw GHttG last night and actually enjoyed the kind of wildness Aldous shows and hope Aaron would learn to be more like the rock star than the other way round.

Why anyone would want to become less fully human, enjoy life less (albeit with drugs) is beyond me.

I don't think you got the point of Aldous. He was morally and emotionally empty and he filled that void with sex, drugs and alcohol. Of course, like most movies these days, the story is about his journey and how he redeems these qualities. I do agree about the buzz kill part though. THe first 2/3 of the movie was really funny, but of course it has to get serious at some part and when it did, there wasn't much there. I just felt like it could have been more profound or deeper or maybe just presented better. Whatever...still pretty funny though.

Last third of the movie seemed like it wasn't even a comedy anymore.
