Critic Review - USA Today

Its superficiality keeps it from being the moving story it could have been.

I might have expected sappy or tear jerker but did you even see this movie? Did you hear the sniffles and laughter from the audience? This movie was very touching, although predictable. It was a delight to see human kindness displayed instead of war and murder in a film.

Great movie. Great time of year to hit the theater and leave with a smile on your face.

You've got it all wrong.

Well this will be the last time I read USAToday for any reviews.

I just saw the movie this weekend. - GREAT MOVIE!

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, but when you are a reviewer, maybe you should know a little something about movies.

"superficiality"?? The very fact this happened makes your argument specious!

I agree, somewhat, but disagree at the same time. I think the movie would have been better and more moving without the sometimes overwhelming superficiality, but it certainly did not stop it from being a good movie.

I saw the movie and it was amazing. I don't think you watched the right movie. Go watch THE BLIND SIDE. I don't know what your talking about.

What I find astonishing about this review is that is isn't about the movie. It is about what the review thinks the movie SHOULD be about. It SHOULD be about race, conflict, white privileged and the complexities of a childs problems in the projects and adjusting to a different life.

So the reviewer has some pre-conceived concepts that any movie involving a mixed race cast MUST comply with to fit within the correct political parameters for her social circle.

In effect, Ms. Plug didn't review this movie, she posted her PC credential disguised as a movie review.

That is unfortunate that the PC crowd must squeeze, pull, yank and tear apart ALL things to force compliance to race, gender or monetary standards of the
correctness as all "right thinking" people do.

I had a black kid, my sons best friend, live with me for a year in a situation not as difficult but not unlike this movie. And frankly - it followed the same path and we dealt with the same issues. This movie is accurate, real and frankly it deserves to be reviewed as it is.

Ms. Puig - in the future please quit writing reviews for your associates and friends and attempt to be honest.

For such an insightful critic, your comment is quite illogical. It is because of the "superficiality" that makes this movie the gem it is. The South, as much of America, embraces Christianity. However, the media, being blinded by their own ignorance, cannot quite understand why. It would be an atrocity to take away the movie's true religious heritage to further your own agenda.
