Warrior's three principle characterizations are compelling - Nolte in particular gives a tempered performance as the shambling, sad-eyed wreck of a dad - but not enough to mask the film's lesser elements.
when a film has a 92 percent approval maybe one should question your qualifications to review a movie like this one. its probably not even a movie that you would prefer to see, thus unreviewable {acccurately that is}.
You didn't think it was going to have a fucking 100 did you? Is there anything wrong with disagreeing with the tomato meter? Just because you don't agree doesn't make them a bad critic. It's just a fan favorite.
The argument that "it doesn't have to have 100%, not everyone has to like it" is BULLSHIT. To get a fresh rating, all it needs from a particular reviewer is better than a 5 out of 10. Even if you don't like the subject matter, or violence or whatever, as a film critic, you should be able to recognize a decent movie. And thats all it needs to be to be fresh, decent (6/10). A lot of movies should have 100% and a lot should be 0%. A movie of this caliber should get a AT LEAST a 6/10 from anyone whose not retarded.
Speaking of retarded, I accidentally saw Just Go with It on opening day (don't ask). This was Sandlers crowd and you wouldn't believe the number of punchlines that got no reaction from a packed house. To say this movie is less than 5/10 and Just Go with It is over 5/10 is mind boggling.
This woman gave good reviews to Just Go With It and Burlesque but bad reviews to Source Code, Hanna, and Buried. She clearly isn't capable of digesting anything truly deep or though provoking since she only likes mind-numbering chick flicks and Romcoms.
Mans movie or not she should be able to recognize a decent movie. Can imagine taking her advise on where you will put your theater dollars? Unreal. Maybe this is why Time is struggling.
Also, I watched this movie with a couple of guys and a group of women. There wasn't a dry eye in the house. Almost all the women cried multiple times during the course of the movie. Just because its a sports movie, doesn't make it automatically a guy film. It wasn't some JCVD flick. All the women I saw it with enjoyed it very much.
Hahaha, Burial, Hannah and Source Code were not deep at all.
Do you not watch many movies? Do you consider the Dark Knight the #1 movie of all time? Did you find Avatar had good direction, dialogue or an original story? Is Fight Club the deepest film you've ever seen?
Wow. Missed the point. Don't reply to a someone's comment if you have issues with understanding... you know... logic. You barf out poorly thought out arguments and then pawn them off like they were his to begin with. Poor form.
yo tdk was the best film of all time! (No, but you are clearly one of the fucks trying to be critical on a well formed crime saga from comic lore, and, why, it was a damn good movie.) As for Warrior, truly a wonderful film about an unusual way to revive a broken family.
Well, fuck you. Warrior is not going to have a 100, and doesn't deserve it. Not everyone is going to hate Burlesque either. Her opinion matter more than yours so fuck you
Cole J is your ranting serious? Or are you fucking Mary Pols over here? Why does her critique matter more than the rest? Because media says so? Well...your opinion is that of ant shit.
go to hell....her reviews doesnot matter....its bullshit...this is one of the best sports movie and every guy loved it...those who didnt should cut off their fake balls
You obviously haven't seen this movie. This movie is absolutely amazing, and I have to say one of the best movies I have seen come out of 2011. I was so invested in the characters that every fight was THE fight.
Movies in this genre should not be reviewed on the same criterion thatâ??s applied to complex dramas. That said, this movie has several elements that are surprisingly deep. This is not just another movie packed with fight scenes. Although movies like Blood Sport have their place and are also kick-ass. My point is that Warrior would rate well against any other top rated movie of any genre.
After taking a quick look through your reviews I'm left with the question: How did you attain a career as a critic for Time magazine? Sometimes your dead on I will admit, but you don't seem to have any sense of impartiality in your reviews. For instance, I did not like "The Help" simply because it's not my style/genre of movie. This, however, would not prevent me from giving it a great review because it was indeed a very well made movie.
I'm a broad. I hate fights. I hate fight movies and I loved this one. Thought it was terrific. The acting was great. The ending was as it should be. Should be an (Oscar) contender.
It's principal not principle. It's wrong on the original review as well. What is the English language coming to when people who write for Time Magazine can't keep their homophones straight?
