It takes two-thirds of the film for any scene of real emotional truth or power to emerge - and by then we're lost.
I could not disagree with this more! i felt the build up of emotion throughout the film was very powerful, building up like a crescendo. The acting was perfect- Toby Maguire portraid the soldier with PTSD outstandingly. Jake Gyllenhaal and Natalie Portman also played their parts brilliantly and are very believable in thier roles. First film in a long time thats truly brought a tear to my eye!

I guess you talking about the scene where Toby Maguire smashes up the new kitchen. Probably because you weren't paying any attention to the movie until the loudness of that scene woke your dumb ass up
