Critic Review - Christian Science Monitor

I found it mighty painful sitting through all the bone crushing and blood-letting.

cuz you're too soft sucker...dont bother reviewing a good movie if you give it a poor review just because you can't handle the chaos.

tired of reviewers complaining about the morality behind things...i enjoy life taking in every unethical immoral idea it throws at me because it creates more of a freedom....forget censorship and whats right or wrong....if you are all about morality and things not being bloody or controversial...go watch oceans or the back up plan or something.....dumb critics and moralists keep forgetting...controversy sells...if you all make a movie seem so controversial...you're giving it the money its making and then some because the world loves controversy.....eminem is great but why do you think he sold more records than any other rap artist? not cuz he's white...cuz of his controversial image....if he wasnt that controversial he would still be good, but not sold as much...just like with other musicians and movies... like passion of the christ.

I'm sorry, but you can't have it both ways. You said "it pays homage to %u2013 i.e., rips off" comic books, but you cannot say both. If it is a tribute or a parody, there is nothing wrong with using those elements, in fact, it's its duty to. It simply cannot be a rip-off, not when the very characters call them out!

You say: "if it%u2019s OK to show preteens slicing the opposition while mouthing unprintables, then where, exactly is one supposed to draw the line?" An age-old question: however, that she is 11 (she's actually 13 as an actress) is irrelevant: we have seen many children pull triggers and kill, though usually portrayed seriously (Blood Diamond comes to mind). What is the difference? Perhaps it hits too close to home? Perhaps it's not taken seriously enough? I rather think that something else bothers these reviewers and they conveniently forget that Kick-Ass is no different than a myriad of other movies or stories involving children.

Methinks there's a politically naive, statist mentality underlining these critiques. A bias against distinguishing the cancerous, truly menacing aspects of society, people taking personal responsibility and not being afraid any more, and the trained, home-schooling and devoted parenting (whatever the beliefs), responsible private training and keeping of weapons. Kick-Ass defies modern Big Brother mentality in some fine ways.

who listens to critics anyway? I'll see a movie if the trailer or plot interests me...could care less what some hoity-toity critic says. Well except for Ebert...he can't say much anything anymore on his own.

Kick ass was a great movie with something you don't see...a lil kid killing a lot o' bad guys!!! It was awesome. I'm sure I'm "disturbed" cuz I found the movie entertaining.

I thought the movie was supposed to be realistic i mean the whole point is a kid who tries to become a superhero. The movie would lose all its meaning if people were not killed and their was not some amount of violence and gore. It seems like the major theme is how harsh reality is versus the idea of what a superhero is...

Thank you for that comment. I pretty much got the main gist of the movie, but seeing the purpose behind its awesomness worded so well makes it even better.

What did you expect? Have you ever read the comic? Did you notice the rating of the movie before you paid to see it? Must be sad to be illiterate and have a lack of any kind of knowledge of a movie you are paying to see.

I find it ironic when people offer their brand of 'morality' - Yet think nothing of religious texts that are filled with violence and sexual acts on children.

I guess things are only offensive if they are in a recent work.

The best thing about this movie was watching a little kid slaughter the bad guys.

Think of it this way.
Would you rather it be that the adults mudered the 10-year old girl?
Is it really so disgustingly disturbing that she was capable of defending herself?

What did you expect when you were going to watch a movie called "Kick-Ass". Scarface was twice as violent but has better recognition. Learn to enjoy good movies, will ya?.

There are movies out there that are WAY more violent than this, so don't call it gross.
