Critics Consensus: The Best Man Holiday is Warm and Well-Acted

Plus, Nebraska is Certified Fresh.

This week at the movies, we've got just one wide release: The Best Man Holiday, starring Taye Diggs and Nia Long in a comedy about a reunion of a bunch of old friends. What do the critics have to say?

The Best Man Holiday

Sometimes it feels good to see familiar faces from the past, even if you don't have anything new to talk about. Critics say that's essentially the case with The Best Man Holiday, a predictable comedy that benefits immeasurably from its outstanding ensemble cast and an overall sense of goodwill. Holiday reunites the stars from 1999's The Best Man (Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Terrence Howard, Sanaa Lathan, and more) for a yuletide get-together during which once-supressed passions are reignited and long-simmering grievances bubble over. The pundits say that while much of The Best Man Holiday is syrupy and conventional, the end result is likeable and satisfying, thanks to warm-hearted performances and a few big laughs. This is a no brainer, it looks like "Thor" is going to continue holding the top spot for another week! And I'm still waiting for "12 Years A Slave"!

Wow, I expected Best Man Holiday to get a 20. Must be decent.....Then again, The Heat got that same score, and I loathed it.

One wide release? Thor should take the top spot then. He's in trouble next week though (Catching Fire is gonna pose some big numbers).

I like these quiet little moments before the storm. It reminds me of Beethoven.

When I see something about a storm, that line pops up in my head.

Oh, and I think Leon was not that good. It was okay.

out of the Three Books "Catching Fire" was the most difficult to finish but the movie trailers make it look pretty cool.

Good for The Best Man Holiday. 63% is way more than my white ass expected. I hope it does some demographic work and more this weekend. Taye Diggs deserves it! (I'm a Go and Equilibrium fan, bitches!)

THE BEST MAN HOLIDAY might be the best-reviewed Tyler Perry rip-off*! I'm still not seeing it, though. Not just because I didn't see THE BEST MAN (I've never even heard of it). It just doesn't sound so appealing. Neither does the premise of NEBRASKA, but Alexander Payne has made some really good movies, so I will watch that one.

*I know it's a sequel to a movie made before Perry became famous, but it's obvious that this was greenlit to appeal to the same audience.

Well I actually agree with the critics this time. I did think that these issues(besides Merch and Shelby) were settled at the wedding. the acting of Morris Chesnut was stellar and the argument scenes were powerful and intense. Very emotional film. And it was shot beautifully with a very attractive cast. They have aged well.

My last pay check was 9500 dolr working 12 hours a week online. My sisters friend has been averaging 15k for months now and she works about 20 hours a week. I can't believe how easy it was once I tried it out.
