Jut give all the wins to "True Detective" and "Louie" in the categories they were nominated. You all know they deserve it.

I have. It's good. But it gives new meaning to the term overrated. I can think of at least five shows off the top of my head who's worst episodes are streets ahead of the first 4 seasons of BB. Season 5 is the only Breaking Bad series that's even at the level of The Wire, Sopranos, True Detective, Mad Men, etc.

Not over rated at all - over exposed maybe but certainly not over rated.
actinh honours gotta go to Mathew Mahogany though.

Breaking Bad has been massively awarded for their other 4 seasons and, deserving as it may be, maybe it's time to award a different series this time around. I still prefer TD to Breaking Bad, tough - the episode direction of BB sometimes verged on the mediocre film student experiment and some of it's episodes were less stellar. In "True Detective" every episode was superbly written, directed, acted, photographed, soundtracked and edited - completly filler free and extremely well executed.

I have not seen it, it doesn't catch my interest. It's said to be good, but I seriously doubt it would top "True Detective".

I think if Game of Thrones had a more focused narrative on less characters it could come close. one of the 3 Main Protagonists arch this season was sitting and waiting.

Because awards show are partially popularity contests. Hence why The Big Bang Theory continues to be nominated.

    Jul 10 - 09:38 PM

    Paul Bulger

    Paul Bulger

I wouldn't say they're entirely popularity contest. The fact that TBBT is still being nominated when it has been pretty irrelevant in pop-culture since season 4 or 5 just goes to demonstrate that these award shows are essentially trying to be "cool" and "hip" when they can't even keep up with what's cool and hip, while simultaneously trying to show themselves off as intellectuals with nominations such as Veep (I absolutely love Veep, by the way)
I think it's ridiculous that TBBT is still in the running when they recycle the EXACT same material season after season after season, but the Emmys are basically just trying to boost their ratings by adding in popular shows, even though it doesn't stand a chance of actually winning.

As I said to a friend earlier, the only possible excuse for her not getting a Best Lead Performance nomination is that it can't be classed as a single "performance", which in that case would indicate she deserves "Best Supporting" for any number of characters.

I don't watch Breaking Bad, but damn if the Dink doesn't deserve that award. I can see them giving it to Aaron Paul simply because it's his last chance, but JESUS that trial monologue was one of the best bits of acting I've ever seen.

Aaron Paul has one three times for BB now, which is great because he's fantastic as Jesse, but I'd like to see it go to Dinklage, his performance was the best he's ever given this season.

Peter Dinklage has won a lot of acclaim as Tyrion Lanister including an Emmy. I hope he wins again though. The Normal heart was okay. Not quite sure what the point of it was, but that's kind of what made it interesting. Everyone was blamed aids, even the victims! how often do you see that happen in a movie?

I'd be happy to see True Detective win Best Drama Series, Jon Hamm win Best Actor (Drama), Boardwalk Empire win Best Direction (Drama),Breaking Bad win Writing (Drama), Benedict Cumberbatch win Best Actor (TV Movie) and Sherlock: His Last Vow win TV Movie, and it wouldn't be bad if House of Cards gets some recognition. Above all, please don't give out awards to The Big Bang Theory.

    Bradly Martin

Why? Granted I thought Mark Ruffalo was absolutely amazing but Jim Parsons was one of the only sympathetic character. Everyone else had this air of "This is why you should hate me" about them. Though that is what made them more real and vulnerable I suppose. Sorry to flood your opinion, You are just the first person I've seen online that has commented about The Normal Heart.

What did you think of Julia Roberts Desperate for an award acting?

I'd rather have Charles Dance be nominated than Dinklage to be honest, he had a stronger season but I suppose this really is just a popularity contest.
