2012 is so long, and its special effects are at once so outrageous and so thunderously predictable, that by the time I lurched from the theatre I felt that three years had actually passed and that the apocalypse was due any second.
Its obvious critics like this guy dont really even like action / disaster movies, so why the hell bother to even see it? Just so you can bash it in a review to make yourself feel better? Reminds me of people that dont like kids who become teachers.
It drives me nuts when these morons look for Shakespear in action movies.
If you look back on the reviews these dimwits have given great action classics in the past, youll see their opinions have no worth what-so-ever.
Excellent review Anthony. Could not have said it better myself. This makes Snakes on a Plane look like Casablanca, and who thought that any movie would make one yearn for the "good old days" of disaster films when Dante's Peak and Volcano were release within a few weeks of one another. When the DVD comes out, maybe Shadow can add it to his collection, right next to White Chicks and The New Guy. In fact, I think this movie would have been a bit more watchable if it actually stared the Wayans Brothers.
Like he said, it's a shame when you don't give some really great actors something interesting to do or say other than to just be fodder for the special effects. From what I've heard about this flick, it doesn't even sound as good as the stereo-types of disaster flicks that Mad magazine used to parody back in the 70's.

I think he needs to stay in his genre but the script could have been better.
