wait. I get part of what you're saying, but how is it offensive to portray indians as clever and chinese as honorable?

Positive stereotypes are still stereotypes.

They are not as bad as negative stereotypes, but can still be harmful.

For example, they can create unfair expectations in the minds of people, putting pressure on members of a group to try and conform to the positive stereotype associated with the group.
