Looks like a decent documentary but nothing to get excited over, rather surprised its nearing 80%
Apr 13 - 02:52 PM
Jackie Robinson deserves nothing less than 85 % at least. The reason you have so many shit movies these days is because so many people are ALLOWED to make movies!
Apr 11 - 01:08 AM
It's looking more and more like it will be in the 40s-60s because still no reviews.
Apr 10 - 04:59 AM
Fresh, but not certified, and not that great of a score. 55-75 %.
Though well-acted and directed, with entertaining sports sequences and a breakout role by Boseman, 42 is too thinly scripted to be memorable.
Apr 10 - 02:07 AM
I'm going to say 55-70% ish for the Critics and 60-85% ish for the audience. Most people will probably eat this up because of it being about Robinson.
Apr 9 - 03:43 PM
Old enough to have seen Robinson play. Besides being a great player, he always looked like a decent, family man and the fact that he attended UCLA, explains a lot (I also understand that he was a Republican). The movie is one big cliche, but it entertains if you love baseball. Harrison Ford does not inspire!
Apr 9 - 07:00 AM
What does him being a republican have to do with anything...do you people need to bring politics into everything?
Apr 9 - 11:05 PM
iIts going to be mid 50s. Reminds me of the Ernie Davis movie The Express, just with Harrison Ford subbing in for Dennis Quaid.
Apr 9 - 06:37 AM
I was originally, based on the trailers, thinking 80-90%, but seeing no reviews the week of means it is probably 70ish at best but most likely 40s-60s.
Apr 8 - 06:48 PM
The place beyond the pines is getting a best pic nom if any movie before november will deserve one.
Apr 8 - 06:34 PM
78%. I've already seen it. While there's no Best Picture, it does a good job of telling a story about a legend that everyone should know about.
Apr 7 - 01:43 PM
Brian Helgeland hasn't had very much success as a screenwriter. This movie looks like a much watch, but I don't know how it will fair with the key piece relying on Helgeland. I'll say 77% Users, 54% critics.
Apr 7 - 11:55 AM
81% "While it may not be one of the baseball movie greats, it still tells an intriguing story about a true legend."
Apr 7 - 10:43 AM
Hopefully, it's not 42 or 58 (100-42). I am going to predict, it's going to be in the 70s range.
Apr 7 - 06:45 AM
Brian Helgeland has never written a good sreenplay? What about Mystic River (Oscar Nominated) , L.A. Confidential (Oscar winner), Conspiracy Theory, Green Zone, Man on Fire, A Knight's Tale, and Payback.
Apr 7 - 05:18 AM
I would like to see it get 67-81%, but if it get's into the 30's I won't be very shocked.
Apr 6 - 07:10 PM
I hope I'm wrong, cos I love baseball history and hope it's good, but no reviews so far probably means no critic pre-screening. And that means the studio knows they've got a sub-50% dog on their hands.
Apr 5 - 12:42 PM
I think you guys are way off. This is going to be lower than you all think. 65% tops.
Apr 4 - 10:33 PM
I'd guess '70s for this. Sure, it looks like a typical sports/racial issue film in the trailer, but I think it will rise above. Consider that the writer/director is the guy who wrote the scripts for Mystic River and LA Confidential. He's proven that he can master story structure for the silver screen.
Apr 4 - 10:40 AM
Inglorious Bastereds also came out in August. A few have come out in April and May that have garnered nominations...Win Win, Moonrise Kingdom, Please Give... just to name a few. This will score near a 66% - 72%. This could be a Blind Side type of score...
Apr 3 - 02:44 PM
I'm going to guess 50%-80%
Hopefully it's higher, but I always have high expectations so who knows.
Apr 2 - 09:44 AM
The actor who plays Jackie looks like he'll do a good job, although I really would like to see this movie do great with box office and reviews I'll guess 70-75%.
Hope I'm wrong though, anything below 80% would be a disappointment in my mind. Would like this to be considered one of those great films with such a barrier breaking story and person being the concept of the film.
Apr 1 - 10:52 PM
Whole heartedly agree. 65% is mine. It's not going to be bad by all means, but it's not going to transcend anything either.
Apr 1 - 10:22 PM
It has no chance at a picture nomination. Zero. It's hard to predict the score. It could be good but I could also see it being pretty mediocre. I'm going to guess 42%
Apr 1 - 02:54 PM
Wow talk about talking out your #@% about a film you haven't even seen
Apr 4 - 05:24 PM
I wasn't talking shit I was stating how good I thought the trailer looked. I don't actually think it will get a 42% that was just for kicks. I also said it looked like it has potential. I just think it has no chance at Oscar nominations, which it doesn't. I'm thinking anywhere between 45% and 75%.
