Claudio dreams of... Claudio Caballero, a small-time concert promoter in northern Mexico, lives in the shadow of his late older brother Federico, who had once been the biggest promoter in the region. Claudio dreams of following in his brother's footsteps, and that dream includes bringing none other than U2 to his hometown of Monterrey. Unable to find an investor, Claudio convinces his beautiful girlfriend Gloria to loan him $500,000, which he brings to the casino of mob boss Zamacona to bet on a soccer game. After showing the mobsters the briefcase full of money and placing his bet, he returns the money to Gloria, leaving him with an empty briefcase when the game is over.and his team loses. With Zamacona's gunmen ready to dispatch him, Claudio mumbles, "No more U2". This gets the attention of the mobster's son Tony, who literally worships the band. Tony convinces his father that staging the concert might be the only way to collect the debt. Zamacona decides to give Claudio seven days to book the show-or pay the ultimate price! Claudio, accompanied by Tony, wastes no time in returning to the process of raising money. He first makes an announcement to the press that he intends to stage Monterrey's first U2 concert, and then consults with Moro and Virgilio, his late brother's business partners, who guide him through the labyrinthine world of big-time promotion. As the deadline moves ever closer, Claudio and Tony see their hard work paying off, getting both the publicity and the money they need, while a strong bond of friendship builds between them. But nothing worthwhile ever comes easy, and they soon find themselves up against Pepe Cobo, Monterrey's most successful-and ruthless-promoter, who is competing for U2, as well as a rival mob that's gunning for Tony. The odds are against them, but all they can do is follow their dream and hope for a miracle. --© Official Site [More]

Suffers from a seesawing tone, a plot that's less wacky than loony, and a taciturn hero so disagreeable, self-centered, brusque and ungrateful that you're rooting for him to lose.

There's virtually no story in the movie, at least none that isn't utterly, completely predictable.

U2-focused film isn't even better than the real thing. Not by a long shot.

U2, notoriously tight with the rights to their music and image, were reportedly so impressed by the script that they allowed their music and some concert footage to be used for very cheap. They got gypped.

[Arroyuelo and Camil] are enjoyable, so is Martha Higareda as Claudio's patient girlfriend, though the coming of the band is treated like Jesus returning with the Beatles.

Bono need not appear in a film for his massive-sized ego to be felt.

It’s certainly not a bad film, but one that could have benefited from some surprises to help make it stand out even more from the usual, gritty offerings of Mexican cinema.
