Raised by an alcoholic mother in the seedy East Bronx, brothers Lex and Mick learned to watch out for each other at a young age and even though both are in their thirties when their tragic tale begins, they still do so. Lex, the troubled older brother is first seen making an urgent phone call to the more stable Mick. The nature of Lex's problem is not revealed right away, and as they converse, the story jumps backwards to their childhood to a traumatic night in Central Park that led to Lex being sent to reform school. Time jumps back to the near-present. Mick has become a police officer while Lex, who failed in his aspirations to become a basketball star, drifts about struggling unsuccessfully to find a job to support his wife and child. Tragedy can't help but follow when Lex begins running drugs for quick bucks and the brothers' pasts collide with their present. The emotion-charged script is based on a one-act play by director Seth Zvi Rosenfeld, which in turn is based on the life of actor Nick Chinlund, who grew up in the same neighborhood. … More
