Jack Nicholson is Warren Schmidt a man who is forced to deal with an insecure future as he enters retirement.

When his wife suddenly passes away he must come to terms with his daughter's up-coming marriage to a man he doesn’t care for - and the failure he thinks his life has become.

“About Schmidt” is a story of change. The film is at times humorous and (at times) brutal.

Jack Nicholson is perfect as the distraught, selfish and helpless Warren Schmidt. His journey to discover himself is sharply written. Added to the mix is Kathy Bates in a sparkling performance that is alone worth the ticket price in.

“About Schmidt” gets 4 stars and carries an R for language and brief nudity.
