This one needed to have a sense of humor.
..... This film was just as it should be a solid old fashion Vampire movie. What would make you think it was supposed to be humorous...

Why? The book certainly wasn't "funny". Geeze, as I read these reviews I wonder just how some of these "critics" get their jobs. It was based on a novel boys. A fictional novel. And that fictional novel...get this...WASN'T FUNNY.
I haven't seen the movie...I came here only to find out if it stuck to the book. Sounds like it did, which means I can't wait to go see it. All these critics giving it bad reviews seem to either ignore or lack the knowledge that the movie is based on a book.

Just because a movie follows the plot of a book, does not make it a good movie. Twilight was a terrible, terrible movie and it followed the book very closely. This movie was pretty terrible, and the critics were not afraid to say so. It had an unbelievably ridiculous premise, but was deathly serious. It was neither funny or humorous.
And hey, maybe the book sucked too. Just because a movie is based on a book, doesn't excuse it from having a bad story. I can imagine your review for a movie now. The directing was terrible, the acting was cardboard, the premise was ridiculous, and the plot was poorly crafted. But it was based on a book, so it's all good.
By those standards, even Battlestar Galactica would be a good movie.

Jonathon, you don't make any sense with what I said at all. I would have no problem if the critic would say that the movie stunk because of the acting or the directing or the story or the plot or whatever. But to say that it was bad because it "needed a sense of humor" is ludicrous because it wasn't supposed to be a funny movie. Was Interview with a Vampire supposed to be funny? No. So why do all the critics seem to think this one was supposed to be funny.
I was only pointing out the book because it seems like the critics who are piling on it expected irony or cartoonish behavior from the movie when it wasn't there in the book so why expect it? They are going by the name of the movie, which, to me, is ludicrous.
