Don't you get it? You're never supposed to like all the bits of the movie equally well! You can't even do feel that for the Beatles' music itself! You like some -- you love some and the others are just songs. The movie can't change that.
Trouble is, some critics start labeling things ( "It's a musical.") as if all movies fit the same mold every time.
Jonathan, growing up in the late 60's and 70's I really didn't like the Beatles's. This musical actually gave me an appreciation for their songs. You may not like this musical, but the actors did a great job singing and playing the instruments. Just like Mamma Mia, the story line helped bring the songs to life.
By the way, do Jonathan, do you have any musical ability at all?
"If you never liked the Beatles, there won?t be much of an incentive to sit through two hours and eleven minutes of Taymor?s interpretation of their music..."
I disagree. I watched it with my friends who never really listened to the Beatles and they adored the movie. They now have the soundtrack on their iPods.
I agree with jasmine, I was never a beatels fan, not even close to one. And I loved this movie and the twist on the music made it one of my favorite soundtracks to date.
I loved the Beatles and didn't hold out much hope for a film to incorporate their music. This film was a pleasant surprise. I don't think you have to like the Beatles to appreciate the film. I respectfully disagree.
