Searing portrait of immigrant life in Vancouver, Canada. Fully developed characters interact against a backdrop of frustrated political ideals.
Suffers from dramatic black holes, but also from creaky dialogue and overly intense camerawork.
The attempts to parallel the subordinate and dominant plots never really pays off.
