I don't believe the reviews on this film. the critics knew that this film was set to be one of summers blockbusters and they didn't want to see that happen so they deliberately gave it bad reviews as to make sure the audience wouldn't want to or would not go to see it. Do to not wanting to waste money on a stinker. I saw the trailer and it looked amazing. I want to see it and i'm not gonna let any jealous critic or prudish critic stop me. Don't let anyone giving away the ending stop you from seeing the movie

deliberately gave it bad reviews? If you can last recall, Mr. Shayamalan hadn't had a good film since Signs. I actually saw The Last Airbender, The Happening, and Lady and the Water, they didn't just suck, they were flat out terrible. i really feel sorry for Night, but lets face it, all of his movies (except The Sixth Sense and Signs, I haven't seen Unbreakable) are terrible.

Jaden is a clone & Will smith's character is the protector of the earth & it's time for him to train his replacement. They have been in place for countless generations.
Er...oblivion?
Jun 5 - 02:17 AM
The problem here is no originality thanks very much to Gary Whita the pretend writer. You remember The Book of Eli which was an unofficial rewrite of Freedom Deep. To make a great movie you first need a great concept then everything is compromise from there. If u have a crap concept then give it to "what a twist" guru then its destined to be fodder... Unfortunately After Earth is real, Scientology doesn't belong in science fiction, it belongs where it is... Fantasy masquerading as religion!

Spoiler: There isn't one. It's a straight forward scifi movie with a happy ending. YAY! <----- that yay was sarcasm btw.
Jun 2 - 12:35 PM
The twist is that Will Smith's role is played by Jaden, and Jaden's role is played by Will Smith. They're such brilliant actors that audiences don't even notice.

You know what the movie is not bad. the way the reviews were coming out i thought it was not going to be entertaining. that is what i go to the movies for. I wish people would stop over analyzing movies and let the rest of us enjoy them.
Jun 2 - 11:16 AM
You know what I wish? That people would stop saying they go to the movies to be entertained. So does everybody, numbnuts! Some of us just like our entertainment to be something above the level of godawful crap.
Jun 2 - 12:29 PM
Saw this movie last night as the spur of the moment thing and it was not as bad as everyone made it out to be. Not a big Will Smith fan but he and his son were fine and it was just an enjoyable movie for the family. Lots of kids were in the theater and never heard one sound from any of them and the theater was packed so someone must like it.

Right when Jaden is about to get killed, Will says, ?you?re movin? with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air.? He whistled for a cab and when it came near, the license plate said "fresh" and it had dice in the mirror. If anything he could say that this cab was rare, but he thought, ?Nah, forget it. Yo home to Bel-Air!? He pulled up to the house about 7 or 8, and he yelled to the cabby, "Yo holmes, smell ya later." Looked at his kingdom he was finally there, to sit on his throne as the prince of Bel-Air.
Jun 1 - 08:05 AM
It was an artificial dream and Jaden is really DJ Jazzy Jeff, but then he breaks the dream machine cuz he doesn't want to go back to being Jazzy Jeff. So Fresh! And Jada Pinkett is really Biz Markie.

I didn't mean for this to be serious.
The twist at the end of the movie is...
The title is actually called 'After Birth'.
This is the thread we're in... :)
May 30 - 09:26 PM
the twist is that the Will Smith character does this to his son to teach him a lesson. The whole thing....the crash and everything he somehow concocts the whole thing and at the end of the film the boy then becomes what he was originally was denied. Either that or he concocts part of it but does not plan for what happens. Either way the film looks okay; part Hunger Games and part Avatar....mehhh, probably will be savaged by critics regardless and thus will be the final nail in M. Night Shyamalan's directorial career, deservedly or not. It's a stretch but this IS a M. Night Shyamalan film.
May 29 - 08:43 PM
The twist is that, Will Smith is an Actor and "Earth" is just a movie set, so they just tried to mess with Jaden`s mind, cause they are sick people.
Ok, I really hope that movie does good.
May 29 - 12:36 PM
Something like, Will Smith is dead all along the movie. Jaden just makes him up to feel safe.
Because,
Danger is real, But Fear is a CHOICE.!

My guess for the twist is that there is no twist, just like the majority of M. Night's other films. You clever and original people are still running with this joke for some bizarre reason, even though it's inaccurate, OLD, and STALE... You may as well through in a Titanic joke for good measure.
May 26 - 08:31 PM
How does one 'through in' a Titanic joke?
The twist at the end of Titanic was that he doesn't drown but instead wakes up in the movie Inception. He gets trapped in limbo, though, only to be taken out after his mind's gone to mashed potatoes... which leads into What's Eating Gilbert Grape.
May 27 - 12:47 AM
No the twist in Titanic was he doesn't really drown and takes the jewel thing sells it and begins to make money, becomes Gatsby and he never actually dies as Gatsby just falls into Limbo.
May 28 - 04:54 AM
Most of his movies have a twist, or a big reveal . Except Avatar which wasn't really an M. Night film
May 28 - 10:16 PM
How was it not an M. Night film? He directed it (aka butchered my childhood). And at least at the time when The Last Airbender was a cartoon, the introduction of Azula at the end of season one (or in this case movie 1) was considered pretty big.
May 30 - 04:42 AM
This isn't "After Earth," but somehow "Before Humans", like the opposite of Planet of the Apes.
May 24 - 09:46 AM
how can it be before hum...wait a minute that makes sense! I guess.............
