But Cody's got a secret - he's actually part of a secret teen CIA program.

Cody's living every boy's dream life - he can drive like a stuntman, has an incredible arsenal of cool gadgets, and his agency mentor, Ronica Miles (Angie Harmon), is totally hot. But Cody's training is put to the test when he's sent to pose as a prep school student and befriend fellow teen Natalie Connors (Hilary Duff) in order to gain access to her father, a scientist unknowingly developing a fleet of deadly nanobots for the evil organization ERIS. From runaway cars and high-speed snowboard chases to a spectacular final mountaintop showdown, Cody has to use everything he's learned to prove himself as an agent and stop ERIS... and maybe even get the girl. The writing's too adult in places and to 'childish' in others. This makes the whole thing uneven and stupid.

Banks takes a nice premise and does absolutely nothing original with it, instead burdening a plot derived from too many James Bond movies with cheap special effects and flat jokes.

This is director Harald Zwart's first foray into the action genre, and he's clearly out of his element.

Muniz must carry this movie alone -- and he's equal to the task.

[Muniz] keeps Cody Banks watchable on energy alone but his scenes with the pallid, uncharismatic Duff are as dull as watching two actual pubescents meet at the mall.

Although the concept behind "Agent Cody Banks" is a little uninspired, it's still an enjoyable 'tween pic thanks to its likeable cast.

Director Harald Zwart and his team of writers score with fast-paced fun, if scant originality.

As unoriginal as it is, it's still watchable. Wait to rent it.

Muniz and Duff have a huge following, but they're at the service of endless Meet Cutes and a violent finale that could easily be dubbed 'Explosion Parade.'

Some special effects toward the end may scare the little ones, but for the most part, this is charmingly innocent, good fun.

The repetitious script -- cobbled together by no fewer than five writers -- shows interest in nothing beyond action-centered plot gimmicks and tame romantic shenanigans.

This movie is so wearying in its mediocrity, the inappropriate Ronica almost registers as dramatic relief. I said almost.

So slick and preprogrammed that even its preteen audience may dismiss it as formula.

Kids attending Agent Cody Banks won't need candy. The film itself is a 90-minute sugar rush.

The movie will be compared with the two Spy Kids pictures, and looks more expensive and high-tech but isn't as much fun.
