Well executed action thriller by Das Boot German director Petersen, which is rather weak in plot and characterization.

As the familiar cat-and-mouse plot unfolded, I let myself enjoy the unapologetic masculine thrills.

Looking Closer
It's embarrassing to see [Ford] hanging by a thread ... behind his own 747. No image better fits the fragile state of his [career] at this point... he's losing his grip.

Unfortunately, as the film winds to a close, claustrophobic tension once again gives way to overblown digital effects and set pieces.

Spirituality and Practice
An adrenaline-pumping political thriller.
Moments of silliness are more than balanced by Petersen's extraordinary ability to keep this movie flight-worthy, Ford's almost-executive presence and an outstanding performance from Oldman.

With any expectations of real-life adventure safely out of mind, you can relish 1997's megahit "Air Force One" as one heck of a joy ride.

Seeing the president of the United States as a kick-butt action hero pretty much sums up the appeal of Air Force One
A piece of expertly crafted entertainment that gets the job done with skill and panache

A die-hardly pic that pits President Rambo against Oldman's boilerplate Russian hijacker.

The two hours of this movie felt like such an eternity that I was certain my clothes were going to be out of style by the time it was over.
Up to this moment, every detail ... has been exact ... But, because of that initial realism, audiences accept the fakery of what follows ... a president who, in physical prowess and stamina, makes Arnold Schwarzenegger look limp.
Harrison Ford is one of the most likable and convincing of movie stars, and he almost pulls off the impossible in Air Force One.' I don't mean he saves the day; I mean he almost saves the movie.
