Slightly alcoholic and increasingly pressured by his free-spending wife (Pena, in a show stopping performance), Ames begins to feel he's hit a dead end, both professionally and financially. When he is approached by the Soviets, who offer him substantial amounts of money for information he has easy access to, Ames can't pass the offer up. The film details how Ames was able to carry on this operation for eight years, until his increasingly lavish lifestyle helped blow his cover. A fascinating portrait of the intelligence game at the end of the Cold War. [More]
