Don't Cross Tyler Perry In This Interview

In Alex Cross, Tyler Perry takes on the title role, as well as some major Krav Maga and serial killer-hunting skills. Lost's Matthew Fox plays his adversary, the wiry and wacky Picasso, who will stop at nothing to achieve his nefarious goals. It's a role that Fox took on seriously, as evidenced by how scared everyone was of him on the set.

You could carry me to the theater and pay for my ticket and I still wouldn't go see anything with Tyler Perry, well besides Star Trek, but I couldn't help but giggle when he showed up.

Not none of them, just not Tyler Perry. No one is saying Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Robin Williams or Eddie Murphy as well as many others can't move between comedy and drama. Just that Perry appears equally inept at both. Only drama is which he's worse at?

Pretty sure Alex Cross just proved Tyler Perry can't act for crap. He can just go back to copying straight from Eddie Murphy and making crappy movies where he plays all the crappy characters.

Tyler Perry was superb in the role of Alex Cross and I am a big Morgan Freeman fan; I was doubtful about Tyler, but he did the job with emotion and super acting chops. Matthew Fox was stellar and scary in his roll of Picasso. I was thoroughly immersed and engaged in this movie from the very beginning.

Jake Eddie Murphy is the biggest star to ever come off of Saturday nightlive most of his movies are great.I think the problem came when he had kids he said himself that he make movie his kids can say and the few bad ones he made Dont come close to the ones the other Saturday cast made.rob,Adam, Dana I'm talking to you.

I was very skeptical of Perry as an actor. His Madea series was funny at times, but quickly wore thin. I did not believe that I would be able to accept him in this role. I will say that his acting was excellent, particularly in emotionality. The screenplay could have been ALOT better and the directing could have used some improvement. It was an overall enjoyable film. Fox was an incredible villain, I hope to see him in that capacity in more films.

Perry is a great actor, but I have yet to see any film with him that I actually liked (there might be one he's in I have seen that I might have liked, but can't think of any). "I can do bad" is the closest thing for me to like, as corny & cheesy as it was.

Are any of these positive comments serious or are they just profiles created by the movie producers to promote this piece of utter garbage? Tyler Perry is the worst thing to happen to Hollywood, ever. He has no business starring in any of his racist, horrible comedies and TV shows, much less a dramatic role.

He might actually, I would agree that Perry's movie's have set black people back and only someone who hates them would perpetrate such crimes against his own race. He's like Clayton Bigsby :)

EXACTLY. Just because he is in the minority doesn't mean he isn't racist. I have turned on his terrible TBS shows for a minute at a time here and there and every single second is him in a fat suit, talking with terrible grammar, and either making fun of white people or acting like there is no difference between Mexican/Puerto Rican/Hispanic people. Its terrible, I would be most offended if I were black.

"Racism" is the belief that one race is superior to others. If making stupid stereotypical comedies with ethnic humor is the standard, then surely you'd include Daniel Tosh, Carlos Mencia, Jeffery Ross, and Sarah Silverman to that list of "racist" comedy, right?

Oct 22 - 09:39 AM

James Horvath

James Horvath

No that is certainly not was racism is. Racism is a prejudice based on characteristics a person believes another person has because of their race. I think the way this person portrays certain races is completely racist and based on stereotypes. I don't know how somebody could disagree if they have ever watched the filth he creates. Racial humor is not exactly the same as racism. Aside from 'setting black people back' I think he is more of a racist for the way he portrays everybody but black people. Also, Carlos Mencia is as much of a comic as Tyler Perry is of an actor.

Oct 23 - 01:57 AM

Fool. The Oxford English Dictionary definition of 'racism' is "belief that all members of each race possess characteristics, abilities or qualities of specific to that race, especially so as to distinguish it as inferior or superior to another race or races". Take note of that last part. I'm sure you have the capable tools of looking this stuff up for yourself. I'm not a Tyler Perry fan, but the couple of films I've seen, I haven't seen any evidence of asserting either the inferiority or superiority of any particular race. And if the standard of "racism" is as you define it - as derogatory humor based on racial stereotypes - then I'm still asking why you excuse the same behavior from those comedians who just may look more like you?

I think the only difference with the Medea films as opposed to other 'Caucasion men in drag' movies is that Tyler is probably the most successful at doing it, but before that was Eddie Murphy playing multiple roles in "The Nutty Professor" movies. I think the last financial successful 'Caucasion men in drag' movie was "Tootsie" played by Dustin Hoffman and "Some Like It Hot" starring Jack Lemmon and Tony Curtis!
