Alone in the Dark II Rounds Out Its Cast
In other news, eight agents need to be fired.

Blog Article | Discuss Article
It's official: There is literally nothing -- no amount of critical savagery, no amount of commercial indifference -- that can prevent a film from spawning a sequel. And here, as irrefutable proof, is a news item about Alone in the Dark II.

First, the good news: Uwe Boll will only be producing this time around, Tara Reid will not star as an archaeologist, and the film will be released direct to video. Now, the bad news: According to Bloody-Disgusting, there really will be an Alone in the Dark II, and it will star Bill Moseley, Danny Trejo, Michael Pare, Rachel Specter, Rick Yune, Lance Henriksen, Ralf Moeller, and Dee Wallace. Set to direct the sequel -- which, according to the article, "finds a group of hunters seeking out a witch" -- are screenwriters Michael Roesch and Peter Scheerer.

The first Alone in the Dark film, which loosely adapted the popular series of videogames, stands at 1 percent on the Tomatometer, and grossed less than $6 million domestically.

Considering he should have stopped before he began I guess the answer is no.

Man, Bloodrayne AND Alone in the Dark were two of the worst sci-fi movies I've seen, ever! Luckily, they were both on basic cable and I didn't rent them. And neither of those movies, when I watched them, did I know who was directing until I paid attention to the first credits at the end. Needless to say, I'll be paying more attention to Uwe Boll projects in the future, to stay away as much as possible.

If it's direct to video, it will be harmless enough. At least we won't be bombarded with television ads for this one. Let them get it out of their system, and then life can continue normally.

Poor Bill Moseley he's a great horror actor. Too bad no one rarely casts him in good roles to show that off (except for Rob Zombie, of course). Same with Sid Haig. Great actors, but I wish people casted them more.

God, I cant believe hes also on the helm of Far Cry. Far cry is the perfect idea for a movie adaptation, so is resident evil where are the real directors? All these games have great stories yet they keep letting this guy and other idiots ruin them and stamp the series with a pile of crap.

I weep for what has become of Lance Henricksen's career. What happened, Lance? Why do you keep doing all this straight-to-video garbage? Why do I keep spotting you in god-freaking-awful Sci-Fi Channel originals about Bigfoot? How is it possible that Alien vs. Predator was a recent career HIGHLIGHT?

And now Uwe Boll?

It's time for an intervention, people. Lance needs our help.

And where's James Cameron? He needs to swing in heroically on a vine and offer Lance a part in Avatar.

We've got to save Lance from himself ... or from whoever keeps forging his name on these contracts!

the re-interpretation of classic RE (1-3) was great!

I always thought that Alone in the dark was a cheap direct to video in my first viewing, which is why i gave it so much leverage. It certainly doesn't hold up to any large screen cinematic standards, so what were the big-wigs thinking when they wide released it? Madness . How could we be so stupid to actually patronize the cinemas when that was showing.

I'll tell you why Lance and all of these other guys are doing straight to DVD movies, no - not because they are sellouts or money hungry, but simply because they can't get rolls in major movies. P.S. I'm pretty positive Alone in the Dark and House of the Dead are in my 5 worst movies ever made list.

Not a bad idea, given that the expectations for DTV are so much lower than theatrical releases. It's actually got a good B (make that C)-level horror cast. It'll probably get run on Sci Fi Channel, like House of the Dead 2, which was infinitely better than House of the Dead 1.
