Landau's idea was to blend the two mediums, the stage play and the movie, by filming a number of great plays and them showing them a few times a week at a theater where tickets must be bought in advance, as they would be at a play. The series produced a number of excellent adaptations of classic plays, five of which are included in this set: THE ICEMAN COMETH, THE MAIDS, RHINOCEROS, BUTLEY, and LUTHER.
