The well has finally run dry.
Dan and Nancy: Now Playing
Broomfield Enterprise
In “American Wedding,” the band geek and the guy with the funny dad get married. Along the way the crew must deal with many problems including the dress, the bachelor party, and the future in-laws. Starring the same cast as before and rated R for sexual content and language, Time: 102 minutes.
Nancy’s take: Another chapter completed! I’m not sure which is scarier: walking down the isle or having a friend show up that might end up ruining the wedding. As we found out in “American Wedding,” Stiffler is at the center of all chaos, as usual.
Most of the original cast members are back. Also most of the sexual innuendoes, bad language, and nudity are back as well. Even though this movie is funny, I think the previous two are better. This one seemed to try too hard to be funny at times and some parts could have been deleted.
One scene in particular almost made me throw up my lunch. It was so disgusting! While another scene at a nightclub made me laugh out loud a few times.
Was this movie worth the price of admission? Yes. Would I see it again? I think it will depend on my mood that day. Overall I was disappointed, I would think after seeing the cast through the years, the wedding would be incredible and maybe make you cry, but it just didn’t.
Dan’s take: For my review of “American Pie 2” a couple of years ago, I said it was full of lewd jokes and bad words and that’s what made it so funny. I then received an email from a gentleman basically saying that the need for that kind of humor is part of what’s wrong with the world today. Well, that dude will be happy to know that “American Wedding” was slightly less lewd than the others. The first two were consistently vulgar while this one just had some high points. The well has finally run dry.
Don’t get me wrong, this still is not a family flick. Sex and gross-out jokes are still the name of the game. There’s one scene that will make even the most desensitized person gag. Okay, I didn’t. I just laughed.
Was this flick worth it? Yes, but it was the worst of the series. Would I see it again? No. It’s supposed to be the final one but I think there will be another, probably called “American Baby.” I’ll wait for that.
Now, my family went to see “Seabiscuit” and my sister said I needed to see it and review it. I just let her review it herself.
Staci’s take: “Seabiscuit” is a movie everyone should see, not just you horse lovers. It is based on a true story during the Depression about three men, a racehorse and an ailing country that finally had something to believe in again. Throughout the movie you become so connected with the characters that you wish it wouldn't end. Never before have I come away from a movie feeling so good. Is “Seabiscuit” worth the price of admission? Yes, just for the lessons of perseverance and triumph alone. Would I pay for my brother to see it so he could write his own review? Absolutely!
