I really loved the originality of this film. It is not your typical movie. It felt honest and sincere in giving the viewer a look inside the lives of unsung artists and creative types and their daily struggles in the shadows of "stars". Particularly artists of color. It challenges you to abandon stereotypical notions of who and what you think guys like these are when you pass them on the street. The film is filled with humor as well as heart. It's about trying to "make it", but not just in the so called "business", but also navigating relationships and life in general. It's a great Indy effort and I recommend seeing it.
I saw the movie at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Film Festival. I am Sai Varadan's mother and you may consider me biased. I saw a very early version of the movie at home last year but I very much liked the final version I saw at BAM
