Critic Review - New York Times

Since there always seems to be more going on in the head of the film's director than in the head of the man playing Andrei, the system did not work for me.

While Mr. Canby is an incredibly respected critic and I personally enjoy his reviews, there's no denying he took it a smidgen too far this time.

It's an artistic MASTERPIECE!
But yes, it does require re-watching.
Still, it does NOT deserve this lowly 93% and for damaging the film's reputation by a 7% it totally deserved, I stamp on this review.

You guys need to chill out...when it was first released in the US like an hour was cut out of the movie by the Hollywood studios. Everyone panned it as a lot of the film was missing and it didn't flow together well.
