Critic Review - Movie Talk

Actors will tell you that Leigh's method gives their characters a hinterland. Why is it, then, that they so often look to me like exaggerated caricatures?

Jason. I couldn't agree more. I watch a Mike Leigh film every 4 years or so and am constantly reminded what a lousy filmaker he is. Then I experience some kind of amnesia and try again only to be - yet again - reminded what a mistake I made. Every character seems to reguritate ham roles that they learnt in Drama school. Leigh's even good at making good actors bad. Follow that!

They only look to you like 'exaggerated caricatures' because your only scratching the surface on some incredibly detailed characters that may seem simple up-front but are incredibly detailed if you keep looking, relate this to Transformers if you still don't believe me or if you want the proper definition of exaggerated characters! :)
