From Ella Fitzgerald to Lauryn Hill, the club has remained the premiere venue for emerging and established African-American and Latino acts, and in 1983 it was named a federal, state, and city landmark in honor of its vast cultural contributions. An enormous amount of history, culture, and entertainment is housed within the Apollo, and this documentary affords the chance to revisit and explore the legacy. This anniversary show featured tributes by Denzel Washington, Willie Nelson, Natalie Cole, Ashanti, Blair Underwood, and many others.
