WHAT THE F**K??? i always thougth the globes is more objective than the academy, but now??? who in their right mind would snubbed pt anderson on there will be blood for ridley scott in american gangster......whether u see it in storytelling, technical aspect and so on, pt does a better job (perhaps the best work for an american director this year) than ridley............and cmon, there are plenty other great movies than accros the universe.....(the savages, knocked up, etc)......american awards are becoming like a joke more and more every year
Dec 13 - 09:48 PM
Wow. Quite a few of these nominations suck and a lot of great movies and performances were overlooked, as well as some crumby movies getting in the nominations. I could go on about what performances and movies they should have in here and such, but everyone else is doing such a great job :P A lot of people getting robbed!
Dec 13 - 09:54 PM
Why is there no nominations for Into the Wild? Only for best original song and score, c'mon! UGH. This is so frustrating. No other movie this year left me as affected as Into the Wild, but I feel like it's going to be snubbed this year.
And no Superbad for comedy, but they nominate HAIRSPRAY. WTF?!
Dec 13 - 10:08 PM
I am so thrilled that Atonement earned seven Golden Globe nominations. I absolutely love period movies. I am not a big Keira Knightley fan, but her performance in Atonement was excellent. James McAvoy was fantastic. He deserves the best actor nomination. I don't know if he will get it though. As far as Saorise Ronan, all I can say is she blew me away playing Briony. She ia a young talent to watch. Ellen Page was great in Juno. I am glad she got a nomination. She is one of the best young actresses around.
Dec 14 - 09:20 AM
I agree with the above comment, but c'mon people, this the Globes. Anyone who says this is an accurate Oscar predictor is nuts. They nominated "The Great Debaters". I liked it better the first time I saw it when it was called "Remember The Titans"! Shouldn't that be a sign that they don't know what they're talking about? I don't think "American Gangster" will get that much love come Oscar time. Let's not get our pants in a twist over something as lame as the Globes. But on the flip side, I guess any award show that nominates Ms. Fey in the TV category is cool with me.
Dec 14 - 11:06 AM
Francisco "Kiko" Gomez
ok let me start with the snubs because there should of been better picks on this list.
there should of been a nods comming out of this moive. Ryan Phillippe and Chris Cooper should of got both Best actor and Supporting. hell even the director Billy Ray should of got a nod.even the Screenplay should got a nod.
Gone Baby Gone
Casey Affleck and Ben Affleck both should got nods for this picture. Ben Affleck is making a big comeback. he starting to become more likeable now days.
3:10 To Yuma
Russell Crowe and Christian Bale should of also been on this list. and also the director,James Mangold. one of the good westerns of this year is getting no love at all.
God, what the hell? i dont get why Keri Russell and the late Adrienne Shelly should of been on this too. i dont think the Golden Globes is not showing any respect at all to such well made moives that came out this year.
totally snubed. this was one of David Fincher best. i dont get it.
Talk to Me
where is the love Don Cheadle and Chiwetel Ejiofor? they at least should of been in there.
Black Snake Moan
again where is the love? Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci should of made this list. the same with the moive's director Craig Brewer. i loved his work from this film.
Into the Wild
totally got robbed. Emile Hirsch and Sean Penn should of made it to the nominations table. besides, Into the Wild was really a good book(yes this movie came from a book) and they faithly stick to the book's real life experiences.
now on to the list itself. ill start with the moive section and then go on to tv.

Dec 14 - 05:38 PM
I don't know why people are so hard on "Universe" It's a georgeous film and is never not entertaining or moving It was deeply heartfelt for me and beautiful and moving. I thought "No Country" is highly overrated, the Sopranos-style ending destroyed the film from becoming a timeless classic and because of it, its just good. Had the last handful of scenes not been so contrived, "Country" could have been a classic, Sorry all you fans of it but the ending was very hard to believe even though everything was "worked out" without showing us, and those handful of scenes were so contrived. Hairspray was a light movie but was chock full over Oscar-worthy things, Travolta included, he could get the Oscar he didn't get for "Saturday Night Fever" "Gone Baby Gone" surprised me, no Best-Pic nom. "Lust, Caution" showed how stupid critics are. That is my favorite film of the year. Ang was masterful and didn't hit a false note, it was georgeous to look at and was the best film of the year period. Hopefully the Oscars won't snub it. Best Pic and Director for Ang at the Oscars. "Once I thought was a shoo-in for Best Pic, couldn't they have seven noms for Best Pic, they did for drama, why not musical or comedy? Knocked Up would have been the other one. "Universe" I think is a deserving nom. I loved it. "Atonement" will win for Drama for sure. That was a hell of a film, so moving. I thought Vanessa Redgrave's speech at the end should have gotten her a nom for Supporting Actress, I hope Oscar can notice this, Vanessa deserves the Golden Boy, at least Saiorse got one. She's this years's Abigail Breslin on the opposite side, this year its a drama. "Atonement made me cry, Vanessa mainly. The list just goes on and on but I'll cut it here, pull a "No Country" ending on my post. I may post the rest but not sure. Now for the "No Country" ending.
Dec 14 - 08:43 PM
Black Book being snubbed for Foreign Film is also unforgivable. Maybe Oscar will recognize it.
Dec 14 - 09:23 PM
overall i just have to be honest when it comes to award shows and anything that has to with them - who gives a **** seriously. there is never a way to honor ALL the great performances and there is always going to be somebody that thinks somebody deserved to win/be nominated more than the whomever does makes it.
that being said -
i am sick of christian bale never being recognized - and whomever said he overacts earlier is a moron
i am sick of john travolta and he should be ignored by award shows for the ****ty roles that he continues to take
it's about tim burton gets recognized - not sure if sweeney todd is the movie that deserves it but i'll take it
those are my opinions - in the end i don't care what critics or awards shows say or think - i just love the movies
Dec 14 - 10:08 PM
are juno, hairspray, and across the universe really better than ratatouille? Why must ratatouille be relegated to only animated films beats me if this movie, more than beauty and the beast, shows it is not limited to that genre as a movie
Dec 14 - 10:45 PM
Christian Bale does overact...and he does the same thing in every goddamn movie...except American Psycho. He has like three emotions that he shows. Hes a big bag o' douche.
Dec 15 - 12:19 PM
OK as much as awards mean nothing, I still get into arguing over them. I don't understand the 7 nominees, but for once I agree with most nominations. Some of the comedy/musical are a little questionable, but Once was well reviewed but not seen by a large majority, and I wish Lars and the Real Girl got nominated (Judd Apatow's overly vulgar "creativity" wasn't snubbed when there's stuff like that out there) but at least Ryan Gosling was nominated. I would have loved to see more love (or any) for Zodiac (the best movie of the year) and Into the Wild, but Zodiac just came out at a bad time and ITW isn't really a GG type movie. The actor-drama category is excellent and I'm glad to see Casey Affleck get nominated, hopefully more groups will do the same.As for those complaining about The Great Debaters (its the perfect GG type movie), and PT Anderson's snub, chances are you haven't seen them so don't make sight unseen complaints.
Dec 15 - 02:20 PM
i agree...no unseen complaints...as of again...because neither of them come out until christmas....
Dec 15 - 10:27 PM
I totally agree with VML. Ratatouille is a great, intelligent, artistic film. Critics should open their minds and not discriminate against animated features.
