Killer Tomatoes Get Remade
Think it'll top the original's 27 percent Tomatometer?

A Return of the Killer Tomatoes! poster hangs on the RT office wall (between Eternal Sunshine and Metropolis no less), so naturally we're typing the following joyful news with slightly trembling fingers: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! is due for a remake.

Uh-huh, the 1978 comedy/sci-fi/horror/musical camp classic that spawned three sequels and a boring cartoon (that you probably ignored to catch The Real Ghostbusters and Heathcliff instead) will be gussied up for a new generation, showing those young whippersnappers what cinema's all about.

Kent Nichols and Douglas Sarine will be sharing screenwriting duties on the remake, with Nichols making his directorial debut. The two gained Internets fame with their "Ask a Ninja" web series, which has racked up over 80 million views.

"Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! is the masterwork of a generation," Nichols stated. "We can only aspire to recapture that magic."

EVERYBODY SING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Attack of the killer tomatoes!
Attack of the killer tomatoes!

They'll beat you, bash you,
Squish you, mash you
Chew you up for brunch
And finish you off for dinner or lunch!

They're marching down the halls
They're crawling up the walls
They're gooey, gushy, squishy, mushy
Rotten to the core
They're standing outside your door!

Remember Herman Farbage
While taking out his garbage
He turned around and he did see
Tomatoes hiding in his tree
Now, he's just a memory!

I know I'm going to miss her
A tomato ate my sister
Sacramento fell today
They're marching in San Jose
Tomatoes are on their way!

Last year, more people were killed by automobile accidents, heart attacks, lung cancer, and natural causes combined than by any one tomato movie remake.

I don't get it.

The writer's strike is over and Hollywood's ideas are crappier than ever.
Where's the imagination? Where's the originality?

Enough with the remakes already! Make something new!

"Big breasted girls
go to the beach...

and take their tops off! Ah Wee Oh Wee Oh Wee..."

Will George Clooney be in this one?

And will they replace all the funny special effects like a bushel of tomatoes rolling down the street with stupid CGI effects?

I feel good CGI effects would be in direct contradiction to what the Killer Tomato movies stand for...

the only glimmer of hope is that this is being done by the "ask a ninja" guys...which was kind of funny...for a few minutes.
