As superbly rendered as his 3D world is, Cameron has populated it with characters who are strictly 2D. And sometimes not even that.
Why is this listed as a "fresh" review? The critic absolutely pans the movie. he states "it is a major disappointment strewn with weak characters, environmental platitudes and anti-progress cliches." His only positive comment is the first sentence.

You have to ask Jim. He's the one who submitted the review.
Dec 11 - 10:08 AM
I too was surprised to read this review and to discover it really isn't a fresh review after all.
Dec 11 - 10:31 AM
Are you even serious? If you are then you suck as a film reviewer. This movie is AMAZING.
Dec 11 - 01:14 PM
He didn't absolutely pan the movie. And he gave it 3 stars over (presumably) 5.I have no idea why this review is considered as rotten now =/
And now it's back to fresh, weird.
Dec 11 - 01:15 PM
How it could be rotten if it has a 3/5, there something in this page against Avatar? in the Joblo review it has a 6 and is rotten too, weird...
Dec 11 - 01:21 PM
Some reviewers do consider 6/10 to be a rotten. Not so sure about movies rated 3/5 though.
Dec 11 - 01:23 PM
But looks in his and that woman profile - all 3/5 and 6/10 counts like fresh. WTF?
Dec 11 - 01:26 PM
Hmm, that is weird. Maybe after much thinking they feel differently about the movie but forgot to change the rating?
Dec 11 - 01:30 PM
With this constant back and forth between Fresh and Rotten, now I have to actually read more than the snippets. Reading? Who the hell wants to do that? :P
Dec 11 - 01:36 PM
Unless you all didn't already notice. Rotten Tomatoe's cutoff point between Fresh and Rotten is at the 60% mark. It just depends which side of the 60% the reviewer leans on.
Dec 11 - 01:52 PM
I really don't understand how people can continue to not understand:THE REVIEWER THEMSELVES TELL RT WHETHER A REVIEW IS FRESH OR ROTTEN, not RT themselves.RT can't/won't mark a review fresh/rotten regardless of what the reviewer's star/rating is.You got a problem, take it up with the reviewer. Better yet, don't, and stop babbling about a movie you haven't seen yet.
Dec 11 - 02:40 PM
Dec 11 - 02:06 PM
I haven't seen the movie, therefore have no opinion on it one way or the other. Next.
Dec 11 - 05:20 PM
doesn't 3/5 = fresh?
Dec 11 - 07:24 PM
How come all of the other 3/5 reviews on his page are fresh but this one isnt??? Seems like the forces of the universe are trying their hardest to keep Avatar down, but it wont last. This is a fresh rating, maybe not the review, but the rating is fresh
Dec 11 - 09:28 PM
The overhype of this movie is about the tech used to create the action, characters and world of this movie and not about the story. The story is not going to change the future of movies and people should know that by now.
Dec 11 - 09:56 PM
well considering he liked disaster movie I can't really take this review seriously
Dec 12 - 12:53 AM
I hope you feel really stupid. You and two other irrelevant film critics are the only ones giving his movie a rotton score. YOU SUCK
Dec 12 - 06:42 AM
3/5 = Freshcome on RT
Dec 12 - 09:41 AM
Kane: You and several of your colleagues above you are idiots who don't read previous comments because you clearly just want to yell and be an idiot. I'll explain one more time:THE REVIEWER THEMSELVES SUBMIT THE ROTTEN OR FRESH RATING, not RT. This guy gave it a 3/5 which in his mind is not good enough for a fresh review. As for the haters of the reviewer, one thing about him makes him invariably more relevant than almost all of you:HE HAS SEEN THE MOVIE, YOU HAVEN'T.
Dec 12 - 11:03 AM
Even though this critic didn't like a lot of things about the movie, the critic wisely acknowledges the amazing technical factors of this film. soo...
this is FRESH! change to FRESH by dec 18!
Dec 12 - 01:18 PM
These guys just want to say "hey look at me, I'm different. I'm the one who didn't like it".
