By the time the big battle rolls around in the last quarter we've had enough of Pandora and the Na'Vi and Avatar, and are ready to take another five-year vacation from James Cameron.

You're right. The film just broke a billion dollars worldwide and has yet to drop 10% earnings since it's first weekend, but yeah, you're right and everyone else in the world is wrong. I'm sure there were cynical, angry critics around when Star Wars came out who said that it was boring too. Luckily for everyone else who knows a great film when they see it, those critics haven't had any credibility since then and with any luck, neither will you once this movie makes 1.5-2 bil and wins best picture. You could be the poster child for these ignorant critics who work for hole-in-the-wall papers or magazines who will try to tear apart any and all phenomenal big budget movies simply for the sake of being non-mainstream.

what does box office have to do with the quality of a movie? four christmases which is one of the worst movies ever made cost 80mil to make and grossed 300million....thats a 4x profit...avatar cost almost 500 with marketing and all involved and its barely doubled...

not to mention that most the tickets sold (or maybe half are sold for 15 dollars as opposed to the usual 11-13 dollar range so its gross is growing faster...

point being some ****ing horrible movies make tons of money and this is one of them, many people like it but i am sure they are blown away by the cgi which is amazing....

the money a movie makes has nothing to do with quality...its al about baffling the audience with bull**** in hollywood....so many studio productions are garbage and cameron is as arrogant a filmmaker as has ever been for using a subpar script that he wrote with a budget that size...lets face it, this movie could have had NO SCRIPT whatsoever and just been a 2 hour exhibition in CGI on pandora and it still would have grossed over a billion dollars....how does that make it a good movie??? its not about right or wrong, people see movies for different reasons, some like to see special effects (most) but there are some that actually look for amazing dialogue and story, and for those there was NOTHING here...

2012 made a ****load of money and that was a laugh out loud comedy....

I was 20 when Star Wars was first released. It was unbelievable that while I and 20 million other people returned to see that astonishing film week after week, a determined cadre of reviewers were insisting that this "Western in space" was nothing new: the plot predictable, the characters one dimensional, the acting cheesy. Avatar is more serious, conveys a not so subtle message, and appeals to the romantic as well as the adventurous. It is not as "fun" as Star Wars because it is not trying to be. Classic SF has often painted possible futures to either embrace or avoid; this movie fits the genre well. The seriousness of Avatar is as appealing to me now as the thrill of Star Wars was then, and once again, the reviewers' complaints do not detract from its enjoyment.

Its funny because that was the exact point where I was completely hooked by this movie. And the first thing i thought when the credits rolled on the screen was Avatar 2.

I've seen this movie three times now...it's a great movie...and amazing...and I hope there is an avatar II and would love to know more about pandora and it's creatures, climate etc...this is not a movie for the mindless...it's a film for thsoe who are deep and understand the beauty and many messages the story holds....The CGI is good but it's the overall aspects that makes for how good this film is...

Perhaps Cameron can spend the next five years with a therapist discussing why all of his 5 marriages failed, why he is a complete ******* on set, and why he hates the human race so much? Like all climate alarmists he isn't fooling anyone except those who have paid to see his green utopia flick. (sadly, i was fooled too) There was a time when Cameron made films where we all cheered for the humans against the Aliens?

It seems that no one has learned a damn thing from this movie. You watch and and should get inspired but you come here and start fighting each other. You human beings are hopeless. I can see why people get depressed after this movie. It's because the human race is filled selfish, inconsiderate, insecure, evil people. All you people who are fighting are a disgrace and you should just start enjoying things, (even if it isn't the most original) that someone created with positive energy. ****ing wake up people and stop destroying our own forests!
