Critic Review - Seacoast Newspapers (NH/Maine)

Breaks technological ground with stunning visuals, but disappoints on story and characters - which still do matter.

Personally I didn't find this film that great, for mostly the same reasons as the critic. I liked the action scenes and the stunning world of Pandora, but the story just felt like your typical, lame movie and the characters and Navi culture felt bland to me.

7/10 I give it for still being enjoyable, but not as good as people say it is.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

ok lets get the facts straight

i dont hate avatar, i think its a well made movie and i had a lot of fun at the teather

but what i hate is that so many people are calling this movie one of the best movies ever made or one of the best movies of the decade.

come on people!!!!!!!
this movie is so far away from such honor. the only way u could posibly think that is if u take that much importance into the visuals.

And by the way district 9 was a much better science fiction movie

The dialogue and actual story elements of this movie were subpar. The effects make up for it, but not enough to call it a great movie. At its best its a good movie.

Thank you Gina Carbone. Characters are very one-dimensional and stereotypical while we are at it. Plot was mostly predictable. I enjoyed it, but it's not as great as most people have been trying to make it seem.
