I disagree completely about the rite of passage bit. A large part of the movie was showing Jake's immersion into Na'Vi life, and how all of it leads up to his bond with Neytiri. Without this stuff, no one in the audience would have much of a reason to care or understand why Jake became attached to Pandora and the natives, and there would've been a big empty hole leaving us with burning questions when it comes to the Na'Vi's aerial assault on RDA's mercenaries (how would Jake be riding the leonopteryx? How would Jake know how to do much of anything? Are we to just assume?)

In the movie Dances with Wolves (which this is often compared to), the Lieutenant goes through a similar progression with the Native Americans. Without it, why are we to understand ir care why he sympathizes and eventually becomes accepted as one of them?

Eve : Damn, I could not agree more. We were up at 6 am to buy imax tickets. You are a brilliant writer as well. Over to you, Alex.

Alex : The only word that can be used to describe this is WOW, and even that does not suffice. Whaddaya think, Eve?

Eve : I agree more than completely. There's a reason this movie sell out at 6:30 in the morning, Vancouver time. Jake Sully is an inspiration to everyone in this world, to fight for what you believe in. Another FANTASTIC work by James Cameron.

the12yearoldcritics are over and out.
