Has James Cameron Found His "Avatar" Star?
by Scott Weinberg | October 18, 2006
Discuss Article
The news has been confirmed in an official capacity, but according to a handful of movie sites, James Cameron has found a star for his long-awaited "Avatar." And it's not the sort of leading man you're probably expecting...

Joel Moore is (allegedly) the guy, an amusing young actor best known for his work in comedies like "Dodgeball," "Grandma's Boy," and the upcoming horror flick "Hatchet."

Here's the report from Cinescape: " According to a Hollywood North Report source, Joel Moore has been all but officially confirmed as one of the leads in James Cameron's forthcoming science fiction epic, "Avatar."

In the future, Jake, a paraplegic war veteran is brought to another planet, Pandora, which is inhabited by the Na'vi, a humanoid race with their own language and culture. Those from Earth find themselves at odds with each other and the local culture."

hell must have froze over
because I can't believe Cameron is finally directing a feature length film again

I don't know why he waited so long, how high of a standard did he have to live up to from "Titanic"- was it worrying about not making as much money or worrying about inferior quality- because as good as "Titanic" was, and how much it strived for accuracy, the character's in Terminator were more realistic than the two main ones in "Titanic"

Well, the studio did wrote him a check for $100M after Titanic's third straight weekend at #1 at the box office. It takes a while to spend $100M, when you're not pouring it into movies.

I bet the biggest problem between the humans and the Na'vi is how the stupid aliens constantly scream "LISTEN!".

It does not matter how you look at it. Titanic made him into one wealthy bastard and he probably never has to direct another movie again. George Lucas is another goo example because the man made more money from licensing his star wars toys than from directing movies.

a waste of talent
Cameron has made 2 of the top 10 scifi movies of all time. As a movie fan and someone who hated Titanic I just wish he would of used his time and resources better. I'll give this movie a chance because its Cameron but where has he been for the last decade and how could he let someone else do T3.

Fock the haters
titanic is simply technically brilliant and very well researched. I do not care what any one says but I believe titanic is simply a great movie for the big screen. I saw it once on screen and I was stunned by how beautiful that movie looked. Till today, it still holds the record as the top grossing film in the world. That just means there are few out there who hate the movie because they have no taste.
