WTF. How the hell did Julia Roberts get nominated?? She's horrible and Duplicity was horrible. And what a surprise Meryl Streep nominated for everyting as usual.
And Toby Maguire over Jeremy Remner?? What the hell. I definitely won't be watching this GG crap. Its all politics anyway. Studios buy award nominations. All PR.

I know this is a movie site, but since this is technically on topic because it's still about the Golden Globes, I'm stoked that 'Glee' received 4 nominations. I hope it takes them all, especially Jane Lynch. Sue Sylvester is arguably the greatest TV character of the last decade. Glee rocks my world.

Last decade? Glee came out in the 90s?!
1 Replies | Reply
I guess I phrased it wrong. But I figured people would be smart enough to know what I meant. I guess not. I meant that Sue Sylvester is the greatest TV character in the last ten years.

If you phrase things wrong, you'll show yourself as an idiot. You should correct yourself often. And for the record, Glee Sucks. You're choice in best character for the decade is terrible, you obviously don't see enough or any quality shows. What is the best character of the decade? I don't know, there's so many good ones, although Michael Scott is my favorite.

7. BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM
a. CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS
b. CORALINE
c. FANTASTIC MR. FOX
d. THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG
e. UP
Yup, these were the best animated films of this year.

i dont know.... miyazaki's ponyo was better than cloudy with a chance of meatballs, i do agree with the other 4
1 Replies | Reply
Agreed...Ponyo was amazing
Reply
No, they weren't. As cute and cuddly "Meatballs" was, Miyazaki's "Ponyo" was by far the better choice. Too bad everyone, not just the Hollywood Foreign Press, missed out on this gem over the summer.
Reply
I'm sorry, but I didn't like Coraline.
Reply
I think 'Ponyo' and especially 'Mary and Max' were better than some of these films. 'Mary and Max' was even better than 'Up,' in my opinion anyways.

I wonder how much Harvey Weinstein bribed the academy for all those nominations?
Reply
Still confused about Nine's nominations but maybe the reviews will get better.
GO AVATAR,Precious, Princess, The Office, and 30 Rock!
Reply
I'm not surprised with all the nominee padding. Double Noms for Bullock, Streep, and Damon?
"its complicated" gets a nomination while (500) days of Summer gets shut out?
and Tobey Maguire over Jeremy Renner? please.
Reply
JettaJameson, you like Twilight. You wouldn't know a good character if it hit you in the face like Chris Brown.

Nice one friend. Last decade, this show just came out. It will be last decade in a couple weeks.
2 Replies | Reply
No it won't. The decade won't be over until the end of 2010... we didn't start at year 0, we started at year 1. And I think he/she meant "past" decade, not "last" decade.
1 Replies | Reply
No, the decade is over. It started in ....1-2000 2-2001 3-2002 4-2003 5-2004 6-2005 7-2006 8-2007 9-2008 10-2009 Thats ten years or, a decade.

@ August M. : Nice one to you. They mean that of all the characters from all shows created in the last decade, she is the best. Not that this show has been around for a decade. Don't try make someone feel stupid when you're the one who can't understand a simple comment.
Reply
Ah yes, the old "you like this so nothing you like is any good" argument. Haha. Good one.

Best Actor in Comedy or Musical has the names pasted in from the Motion Picture category.

GO AVATAR!

I don't like how all these award ceremonies choose a set amount of nominees for each category. If not all of them deserve it (which not all of them do), then don't nominate them!!
Reply
I don't put a lot of stock in Globes nominations, especially after they nominated Tom Cruise last year for Tropic Thunder (though I'll admit he was damn funny!). Nevertheless, good luck to Waltz and Gordon-Levitt. They deserve their nods and hopefully wins.
Reply
The only surprises to me are no Jeremy Renner for The Hurt Locker, and no screenplay nom for The Coen Bros. I really hope Kathryn Bigelow takes best director
1 Replies | Reply
Yeah, I hope Bigelow gets it to. She deserves it.

hmmm i haven't seen any of the best picture movies except for basterds. will wait to see Avatar, this will be a movie where i take the audience reaction over the critics'. critics love strokin' cameron's you-know-what because he gave us that one about the big boat (and if anyone has watched titanic recently they would see that it has aged terribly in 12 years). hope Fox gets best animatd pic nom. Matt Damon for the informant!! waltz for basterds!!
i have a lot of movies to see in the next few weeks.

Glee is one of the worst shows I've ever seen people talk so much about. The hype I hear from people (mainly high school students) is deafening, and all together sad in the end. How people think Glee is a quality show is beyond me. Pus, no part of Glee will ever be the "greatest" anything "of the last decade."
Plus, Julie Roberts getting a nom is the biggest joke i've seen all year. Hoping for Up in the Air and (500) Days of Summer to take top spots.
2 Replies | Reply
Sorry, meant Julia Roberts. Not that she deserves the typo correction.
Reply
Have you seen what is on tv these days?? How can you say Glee isn't one of the best shows on. You must be retarded if you really think this!!

A couple things, no way in hell should Fox win best animated pic, if it is not UP which it should be it then the Princess and the Frog should win.
Second why is Sherlock Holmes considered a comedy/musical? Isnt an action movie?
3 Replies | Reply
If you keep your ears open in sherlock holmes, it is pretty simple to see the comedic approach. Second, UP is probably in no way anywhere close to bringing the world of animated movies to its best like Fantastic Mr. Fox did. UP was a gimmick if anything else, the screenplay was horrible

I respect your opinion, but how was UP's screenplay horrible? I'm not saying it's better than FMF, since I haven't seen that one (yet), but I loved UP and found nothing to be wrong with the screenplay.

An action comedy.

now i'm beginning to get excited with the awards.
and there's actually a change for 500 days of summer.
Reply
Inglourious Basterds for Best Picture and Best Screenplay. James Cameron for Best Director. Do it Hollywood Foreign Press. DO IT.

Where the hell is the love for District 9? I'm sure it will get snubbed at the Oscars too. I don't care what anyone says, District 9 was the best film of 2009, Avatar is the only one left that could beat it, and I doubt it will.
Reply
Saoirse Ronan needs to be in the category for Best Actress Drama. She did a beautiful job showing the characters emotions on the screen. Congrats to Stanley Tucci, he deserves the nod.
Reply
I can't believe they didn't nominate Viggo for The Road. This is ridiculous.
