Harry Potter bores me so other than Due Date and Tron, the rest of this year is really gonna suck at the movies.

I hope not. We got two whole months left! Please tell me there's more than two movies left to enjoy.

Another Seuss adaptation is not particularly good news. If the past several are any indication, Seuss does not work when stretched beyond the limits of the original story.

Just think how, most likely, the planned live-action Pepe Le Pew movie is going to be. Talk about stretching an idea past its breaking point.

Avatar 2 & 3 are awesome news, cannot wait.

Same thing goes for The Dark Knight Rises.

Mission: Impossible IV is sounding better and better as more information gets released, so I am actually starting to look forward to it.

I am still disappointed that Aronofsky is doing Wolverine 2, but I am hoping he can do something worth noting with the flick.

Why is this Acme thing a "fresh development"? It sounds absolutely awful.
Can't wait for Dark Knight Rises.
Angelina as wicked queen stepmother? I can totally see that.

Why the hell isn't "The Dark Knight Rises" the top story?!?! Avatar sucked and so will its sequels. While I will admit that the visuals were absolutely amazing the story was not original as it stole from several other movies and stories. Go Chris Nolan!!

More than likely because Avatar was an actual announcement of the movies, where as The Dark Knight Rises was just a title reveal; we have known about it for months.

Yes, that is the rationale... although the Weekly Ketchup tries to include regular news items for high profile already announced movies, new projects also get higher priority. In a dead heat between the official announcement of Avatar 2/3 and what is probably the 6th or 7th story about Batman 3, Avatar wins.

Thats what im saying!!! Who gives a rats ass about avatar?! that movie will be just like the first one but without trees and stuff...where as TDKR will have an entirely new direction...so pissed.

Oct 30 - 05:04 PM

King Crunk

King Crunk

Not trying to start an argument with you here, I love both movies (unlike you, obviously), but saying The Dark Knight Rises will beat Avatar 2 at the box office is just illogical. Avatar is the highest grossing movie of all time at over 2 billion (that's not a typo, neither the two or the b). The Dark Knight made 1 billion. Sequels also generally tend to make more than their predecessors unless it is REALLY bad, so The Dark Knight Rises will be massive, but I guarantee you no studio puts out a major release in the first month after Avatar 2 comes out simply because it will destroy the competition. And besides, if box-office gross is how you judge a film's quality, then you know nothing about great filmaking.

Oct 30 - 11:03 PM

Chuck Newberry

Clayton Rexach

I agree with King Crunk. You obviously know nothing of great filmaking. Avatar may not have been the most original storyline, but the visuals compared to what he did with the storyline to make it seem fresh is great filmaking. I love the Dark Knight. its one of the best Batman movies made to date, but it will never surpass Avatar in box office numbers. Some of the greatest films barely make a dime in theatres. They are still great despite the box office.

Oct 31 - 10:49 AM

tony a.

tony ayala

Alright, So i do know enough of filmaking to know that some of the greatest movies didnt make so much money but yet were glorified. Who cares if Avatar made 2 Billion, the only reason it did was because it was FILMED entirely in 3D and was one of the first major 3D realeases, people got excited and thats how it made its money. am i right? The Dark Knight Rises i would have to say is the Most anticipated Movie to be released in 2012, Avatars 2-3 dont come out for another 5 yrs soo theres no reason to be highlighting it now....

Oct 31 - 10:59 AM

dj Mark

Mark Marquis

Who cares if it made 2 Billion? So Box Office performance either matters or it doesn't when predicting a sequel's success. Wasn't it you making the prediction that TDKR will beat its sequels at the box office? Try at least to be logically consistent when you hate on something.

Oct 31 - 11:24 AM

mjprogue

Mike PArker

And the only reason Dark knight made so much money was because of the totally artificial hype...obsessive fanboyz watched it ten times each and everybody else watched it (once) just to see what the big deal was...

Ask the average person and they've already forgotten the story of Dark Knight...go ahead...try it

Nov 1 - 01:27 PM

While not a big Avatar fan, I would completely reverse everything about your statement...

Dark Knight is the horribly unoriginal and terribly made film while Avatar was at least something new...there has literally NEVER been a movie made which did not "borrow" ideas from elsewhere, so whining about it not being 100% original just makes you sound ignorant.

Can't wait for Avatar 2. Roger Ebert compared it to Star Wars and I would generally agree. I'm hoping 2 will be to Avatar what Empire Strikes Back was to New Hope.

I would love to see Two Face return for The Dark Knight Rises (somewhere, someone is already starting a porno film based on that title alone). Two Face definitely deserves his own movie (Schumacher's two don't ever count). Though I would like someone like Hugo Strange or Black Mask. However, I would be disappointed if Catwoman and/or Selina Kyle didn't show up.

Well unless you saw a different movie or a Director's cut that I haven't seen, Harvey could be very well alive.

Yeah yeah.. He fell from a considerable height and he had his eyes closed (we all know that represents certain death), but the dude could've been knocked out for all we know.

1) Two Face is one of Batman's greatest and most complex villains, easily on par with Joker and Ra's. He needs to be seen in his full glory.

2) He was poorly done in Batman Forever and was shoehorned into Joker's movie. He presents such interesting stories for Batman that it's a shame he's always playing second fiddle in films.

3) The Dark Knight was largely based off the very successful graphic novel The Long Halloween, which detailed the fall of Harvey Dent. Long Halloween's equally successful sequel, Dark Victory, showed the rise of Two Face. He and Batman finally take down the criminal underworld while the "freaks" take over.

4) The movie purposely left his death ambiguous. Everything Batman and Gordon did died with "Harvey's reputation" not Harvey. The fall was not that much different than when Batman dropped Maroni. Some have reported that they can see Dent breathing. They made a point of showing the coin landing good side up.

Several very interesting developments this week. I could see why there are so many fresh ideas and only one rotten (and even the rotten one concerns Clive Owen). Although not a fan anymore of the first Avatar (loved it the first time, hated it the after that), I'm interested in the sequels because Cameron said they would not be directly related to the plot of the first movie, they'd merely expand the Pandora mythos. Well, the best thing about the first movie was the visual extravagance of Pandora, so I've got hope. Different stories on that beautiful planet? Count me in. Plus the next one will be focused underwater? If The Abyss showed us one thing, it's that he KNOWS how to make underwater movies.
