Why do you hate things so much. It has to suck to be someone like you and anyone else that hates something with such passion. Not healthy man.

He/shes got a point tho. avatar doesn't need a sequel and all theyre trying to do is milk the cow for all its got. thats the best way to kill a movie. Not that Avatar didn't suck anyway. James cameron forgot to put to green mullets on everyone XP

Attention all Avatar haters! No one thinks you are clever, funny, or intelligent based on your anti-Avatar comments. Take a deep breath before you make a dumb comment that makes you look incredibly stupid. I am sorry you didn't get taken on an epic journey with an intense plot twist at the end of the film. The movie was all visual. Get over it. Go crawl in a corner and sob over how much money Avatar made over the Dark Knight (While i love both) until you accept it. People enjoy visual experiences on a giant Imax or theatre screen. People enjoy movies with great plots and intense character storylines at home on there Televisions. The faster you accept it, the faster we move past all this intense hatred.

Riiigghhhtttt. I rated Avatar 60 and I dont like it enough to by the DVD so am I stupid in your book? According to you people who stated they dont like Avatar are not clever, funny, intelligent, and need to take a deep breath? Yet you are the one who just made a complete ass out of your self in your quest to avenge Avatar (a movie so successful it doesnt need any avenging) I especially liked how you called one person stupid and yet they are the ones who need to take a deep breath? You say their statements look incredibly stupid yet you are the one who said Avatar has an "intense plot twist at the end? The end? You mean how they tried to transfer Sigourneys body unsuccessfully (due to her injuries)into a navi and no one saw it coming that they would transfer worthingtons body to at the end? Thats was a surprise to you? You are telling people to go crawl in a corner and get past their intense hatred? Like your hatred for people who dont like Avatar? I cant even count how many times you contradicted yourself. You say Avatar has a great plot and intense character story lines? The Emerald Forest, Dances with wolves, and Ferngully story lines you mean? Your buddy stated that "some folks love to be the outsider and distinguish themselves by showing apathy for what is trendy" So are you both this hostile towards people who hate Twilight also? Does everyone on this site who venomously type about their disdain for Twilight need to go crawl in a corner to? Face it buddy, Avatar and Twilight are equally weak when it comes to the plot. As for Visuals, well that is the only thing that made me not rate Avatar a zero. Do I think its cool that Cameron hired a linguist for the navi language? Hell yes! Do I think the specially effects were great? Hell yes! Is James Cameron one of my favorite directors? Hell yes! Do I need more than special effects to like a movie? Hell yes. Avatar has a weak simplistic plot and terrible dialog and I need more than that to call a movie "Epic". You might as well change your name to avatar avenger.

Read my comment again. I did say the plot sucked. The point was saying that you shouldn't hate on a movie just for having so-so plot and incredible visuals. And it wasnt directed at you are anyone else who respectfully didnt enjoy the film. It was directed at the people who say "OMG WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN! JAMES CAMERON IS GOING DOWNHILL HE IS THE WORST DIRECTOR EVER! TOTALLY RIPPED OFF OTHER MOVIES! ZOMG NFDISLBFDKLSABFDLSFJDLA! etc...

Look man, looking back now I went on a tirade so let me slow down and just say this, at the end of the day people who absolutely hate Avatar do have a right to write their opinion on here. In fact the damn movie is so so SO successful Im surprised fans of it even get upset about those who dont like it. Ive debated and disagreed with a lot of people on here but Ive never resorted to calling someone stupid because they didnt like a movie i liked. Take the high road and keep it civil is what i say. I read your comment while working an overnight shift so i was a little out of it and missed the fact that you did say in a way that plot sucked. See? that is me taking the high road and admitting when i made a mistake.

One of the most well-written descriptions of the hate shown towards avatar, inception, and other amazing films. I completely agree with you

While I agree with the post in regards to Avatar, applying it to Inception is completely inappropriate.

In fact, the argument could easily be applied in reverse to explain Inception's popularity.

Unlike with Avatar, the counter-culture is the ONLY thing which saved Inception at the box office...the average movie-goer watched it...and either hated it or at least didn't have a clue what was going on. Without the movie elitists pretending it made sense and completely ignoring the contradictions and absurdities of the plot and writing, that hype would not have existed and it would have been a forgotten footnote of film history.

Not to mention how it never would have been made if Nolan hadn't had his Dark Knight infamy to lure the studio into backing his conceit.

While not a big Avatar fan, I would completely reverse everything about your statement...

Dark Knight is the horribly unoriginal and terribly made film while Avatar was at least something new...there has literally NEVER been a movie made which did not "borrow" ideas from elsewhere, so whining about it not being 100% original just makes you sound ignorant.

And the only reason Dark knight made so much money was because of the totally artificial hype...obsessive fanboyz watched it ten times each and everybody else watched it (once) just to see what the big deal was...

Ask the average person and they've already forgotten the story of Dark Knight...go ahead...try it

Literally the ONLY good decision Nolan has EVER made with regards to the big screen...jumping on the 3D bandwagon would have appeared as the worst kind of money grab. Of course knowing his film would (inexplicably) make a million boat loads of cash without 3D, the decision is probably made for two reasons...

1) to look good with the anti-3D crowd of movie elitists (his primary fan base)

2) to save money on production which would have been wasted since higher ticket prices would have been countered by reduced screen counts and shorter run engagements...he knows it will bring in the sheep by the millions for at least a couple of months, so why bother?
