WB Deals a Tragic Poker Hand

WB and producer Graham King ("The Aviator") will deliver a big-screen biopic about the life of Stuey 'The Kid' Ungar, one of the poker world's most colorful and tragic figures. Variety reports that the recent book "One of a Kind," by Nolan Dalla & Peter Alson, has been optioned for the movie treatment.

"I am always driven to biopics about mad geniuses, and when I read about Stuey, I couldn't help but think about (Howard) Hughes," says Mr. King.

And for those who don't know Stuey's sad story, well, let's just say it's riches-to-rags to somewhere even worse.

there was already a pic
it was done straight to video and stuey was played by michel imperoli of the sopranos, and was called "High Roller"

ungar was a pretty messed up dude

while a brilliant card player (thx to a photographic memory, in fact casinos changed the 1 shoe blackjack to 6 shoes because stuey was able to memorize all the cards) he was a degenerate gambler and had very little respect for the game, or himself
