These movie makers are retarded...seriously.....They should have started the movie when Ripley and Winona (don't remember her character name) brought an alien back to Earth (after Alien Reserection) and all hell breaks loose, then couldn't contain the aliens fast enough, so they summoned the Predator aliens to help the humans destroy the bad ones. But noooo..... they have to go with there douche bag script writers to make the freakin movie take place at an Ancient Pyramid....stooopid gay producers and writers.

I imagine it would be pretty difficult to make an AVP movie without human characters to drive the plot. Most people wouldn't enjoy just watching digital monsters fight eachother, and there's no way that Fox would sink the necessary cash into a flick like that.

My beef is that the whole idea cheapens the series. Take an exploitive, campy idea like any "Vs." movie, and tack on one of the worst directors in the business who has no regard or respect for the series. These are all steps to tarnish the legacy of Alien.

I was hoping that AvP would fall into memory since it was pretty much panned, but there will always be a market for those who like the video games and don't have enough understanding to know that watching this garbage and giving those involved your cash is just like pounding another nail into the coffin containing the critical respect of an amazing film series.

Actually Buck, if you had payed attention, in Predator 2, the predator had an alien skull mounted in the ship. And if you were a true fan of the alien series and the predator series, you would know that aliens vs predator is a huge theme in comics and books. They are part of the same universe though you may not know it. It is not a hollywood creation like freddie vs jason.

As for aliens 4, i feel the lept into a completely different universe where aliens were a joke and a half human half alien was the closest they could come to a creative thought. The movie was the worst thing I have ever seen. Ever.

You hit the nail on the head. Its hard to beleive that the exploitive, low-brow, crap that is AVP [and in all likelihood AVP2:Requiem] is the progeny of talented directors like Scott, McTiernan, Cameron, and Fincher.

No one will debate the fact that AvP makes for good comics and cool video games. And yes, of course we all know that we owe it all to that clever guy who said "hey, let's put an Alien skull in the ship!" However, this doesn't make them necessarily part of the same universe. If you want to go that route then Superman and Batman are also part of the same universe since they have had bouts with both creatures. That being said, I don't MIND them in the same universe. I just want it to be done tastefully.

Alien Resurrection was, in my opinion, not needed and an obvious cash-in on a series that ended properly with Fincher's beautiful (albeit flawed) Alien 3. I think that Resurrection could have been a better film had they not hired Jean-Pierre Jeunet to direct.

While I love his other films outside the series, his European charm and whimsical style simply do not mesh with a series that takes itself so seriously. His art direction was cool, as usual, but he completely robbed the aliens of their most terrifying attributes by making them far too present and by asking to audience to take some pretty big leaps as far as plot goes (aliens setting a trap for the swimmers after having only escaped moments ago? The film is littered with these).

While I don't feel that Resurrection is quite the blemish that most people do, I freely admit that Jeunet turning the series into "black comedy," as he has stated himself, was a really bad turn. It's also important to keep in mind that Jeunet didn't WANT to make a big budget horror flick, and was probably also a little disenchanted with the Hollywood machine. I can't help but feel that some of the camp in Resurrection was a result of this. It's just a shame that he had to use the Alien franchise as a vehicle to make his statement.

The next one should surround a group of humans altered specifically to hunt down predators as they become a nuisance during travel throughout the galaxy. it would star Vin Diesel as a futuristic The Rock. Born on the planet Vietnam, The Rock was forced to fight at an early age and was raised by an Alien mother and Predator father, but his rough exteriored yet truly gentle-hearted coach never let him give up on his dream of becoming an exotic dancer. Anyway, he built a home out the giving tree or some sh** like that. Alien, Predator, and The Rock ate a bunch of apples from the tree, then they all died. THE END?

OMG, AVP the Musical! Somebody simply *must* make it. ;-) The alien can even sing harmony with itself, since it has multiple mouths. I can see it now on Broadway...

Film studios are stupid, All they need to do is turn to the original dark horse comics for the perfect setup. But they keep doing these stupid modern day settings. "No matter who wins , we lose"? well at the end of the first one we won. They copped out. Boo.

Why do they insist on setting these movies on modern day Earth? It's obvious that the guys making his have never picked up one of the comics or seen the (incredible) AVP2 game, or they would know that it would be a much better idea to put Aliens' space marines on an alien planet populated by Predators. Now THAT'S a movie I'd want to see.

I agree, AVP needs to be in space. According to the original premise in Alien/Aliens the Aliens were never supposed to have been to earth in the present day.

If you are going to have humans in the story, they could do it this way. I don't remember the exact details but Ripley's corporation wanted a captured Alien to develop for military weapons purposes. So lets have them do that out in space or perhaps on Earth but in the meantime the Predators have become a problem with hunting humans on Earth, or hunting humans in deep space operations. So then you take your new "genetically engineered fights for the humans" Alien to the Predators planet and/or some intermediate Predator base to unleash the Aliens on them. But of course everything back fires and Aliens not only go off on the Predators but then turn on the humans etc. You could have the Predators infiltrate the human ship and start killing off humans while the Aliens are ransacking everything.

Then you would have Aliens attacking humans and Predators, Predators attacking humans and Aliens, and the humans attacking Predators and Aliens. That would be fun. The possibilites are endless plus you would preserve the main premise of both movie series which is that both Aliens and Predators are antagonistic to humans.

The only problem I see with having strictly an Aliens and Predators movie with no humans is that leaves the audience with no human to connect to. Part of the success of both franchises is we have a natural emotional response that automatically causes us to root for the human protagonists.
