Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem -- See What A "Predalien" Looks Like!

Directors promise a dark, scary, back-to-basics approach.

According to USA Today, when you cross an Alien with a Predator, the result is "either a bad joke or a box-office hit."

It's possible, of course, to release a film that is both a bad joke and a box-office hit, but USA Today has a point, and it's one well-taken by directors Colin and Greg Strause in their interview with the syndicate regarding the upcoming Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem: For the sequel, which opens December 25, the brothers promise a return to the dark 'n' scary roots of the Alien and Predator series.

Matter of fact, the Strauses claim to have used the originals as inspiration for Requiem, telling USA Today:

"That movie was dark. That movie used a lot of rain...And that movie was scary. We want it more like the classic early Alien and Predator movies we grew up on."

In the latest sequel, according to USA Today, "an alien that bursts from a predator's body, or a "predalien," leads the war as the creatures descend on a small Colorado town." Behold the predalien:

The article goes on to note that AVP2 finds the series turning away from CGI effects, comparing the new film's 12 alien outfits to the six used in the first two Alien movies. As Greg Strause puts it:

"You're not going to see 50 digital creatures running around...We want to bring the franchise back to basics.

"That's what made them so frightening in the first place."

OK, I'm still not happy about the location the film is set or the time period. I wish it was set in the future after Alien 4, and set perhaps on an alien planet.

This should be great if it's Lots of aliens getting killed and lots of preditor badass-ness to go around. I wonder which side the prealien will be on. I hope it is with the preditors.

the R rated preview looks dope. never bothered seeing AVP but I'm actually looking forward to this one. I like the approach these guys are taking: screw CG, no one buys it anyways. We're right on the edge of effects being good enough to blend seemlessly with live action, but even noticing that an element of the film is purely digital for a moment can take you out of the atmosphere of the picture. When you're dealing with wholly fictional creatures, the best way to ground them in reality is to physically create them (memo to george and steven, who seem to have forgotten of late).

VERY good question. I mean, didnt the first AVP have aliens coming out of preds? If not, i seem to remember a gigantic alien in the first Alien movie that had its chest open...was that the start of queens or some bullsh$t?

The original alien is bipedal, has four limbs (and a tail, but every alien 'version' has a tail :P), and one can argue that the elongated head is due to the super-duper-complexity of the human brain :P Anyway that should be human enough.

The predalien looks sweet, but it also looks like they went a bit overboard with the characteristics it inherented from its host. Dreadlock-style hair? Hair even? Come on...

And one million internets awarded to the guy that officially decided to use costumes and models over CGI!!!!!!!

Now my only real question here is.... why is the release date christmas???

Here is where these directors, writers, and producers are stupid. The aliens use living bodies as a host to raise there young. It shouldn't take on the characteristics of the body the alien is using as a host. A PREDA-ALIEN? GAY! Really gay! I can't beleive it takes place at present time too! Have they not learned anything from the first one? The one that got terrible reviews? Just because it is rated R, doesn't mean it is going to be good. I mean come one....you of the coolest horror movies I have seen this past decade was 'The Ring' and it was PG-13. Hollywood is full of idiots. There is really good talent out there that never gets a chance. I have friends that are great writers...I have written some stuff here and there...I have seen films on the internet filmed from a DV camera that is more entertaining than AVP. This movie will get 9% tomatometer!

WTH didn't that last predator blow himself up if he knew he had an alien inside him? The real way the last one should have ended was maybe all of them dying in the pred-bomb(or have her float away on an iceberg, like bjork).
I think after this movie there will be no hopes of having a predator three, unless they feel like rebooting the series with the rock(heckuse me, Dwayne Johnson) when they eventually run out of good ideas next season.

The first two alien films the aliens, as was stated before, were bipedal and rather human shaped, although still very alien. However Alien 3, the alien came from a dog (or a cow depending on the version) and was more dog like in that it was a quadruped. And a long time ago, there was an unused AVP script that was based very closely to the original AVP comics, and in that one, alien eggs were dropped into the forest of some colonized world, and began to hatch out aliens that looked similar to the alien creatures that resided in the forest. The Predator-Alien also was in the comics, and looks somewhat like the picture shown.

It's been a part of Alien lore since Alien 3. This isn't something they made up for this movie. The Pred-Alien was in the comics way before it appeared in a screenplay.

There were no Aliens coming out of Predators in the last movie. Only in that last shot where the dead predator gets chest bursted. And the big creature with the hole in his chest in the original alien is just the Pilot of the ship that crash landed on LB-429 (or whatever the planet is called). His ship was carrying the eggs in the cargo hold, for reasons unknown. The Queens come from facehuggers, the same as any other alien, they just are more rare.
