This stylized anime tells the centuries-spanning tale of a group of alchemists who, one night in 1711, took a boat trip to the middle of the ocean in search of a demon who would provide them with an elixir of immortality, the recipe for said elixir, and the secret to ending their existence should they choose to use it. They found what they were looking for, but soon realized the dangers of staying in close proximity to each other when it was discovered that one of them had eaten another. Years down the line, the immortals once again meet up in Prohibition-era America and cause a huge ruckus, or, as the Italians say, baccano! This third volume includes episodes 9-12. [More]

  • The immortal gangsters are still trying to rub each other out, but hoods who won’t die are tough to whack. Explosions rock the Flying Pussyfoot as the train nears the station, but this caper ain’t about arrivals and departures. It’s about the twists and turns along the way. It’s about vicious monsters, deadly dames, and the sins of the past colliding with the present.
  • For now, how's about we start in the alleys of the Big Apple. A notorious thug has gotten his filthy hands on a mysterious elixir and it just might mean his reign of terror could last forever. It's as good a start as any for a story where every Dick and Jane plays the lead.
  • Episode 09 - Claire Stanfield Faithfully Carries Out the Mission
  • Here’s what’s what: He can appreciate the finer points of someone else's massacre. He’s been here all along. A good newspaper always has someone on the inside. A guy who gives a speech before killing will usually not see his plans work out. The art of torture is alive and well. If there wasn't a monster on the train before, there is now. Most freaks spend some time with the circus. A father must decide. He is identified by the fact that the corpse of his victim can’t be. The monster dreams of taking a bride. Some jerks think they’re bulletproof. A monster still has standards. He is unsettled to wake up in shackles. They are reunited under the threat of being torn apart forever. Some jerks are bulletproof. Kids say the darndest things.
  • Episode 10- Czeslaw Meyer is Forced to Rework His Tremble-Before-the-Specter-of-Immortals Strategy
  • Here’s what’s what: A man of power finds himself powerless. A prisoner is at his daughter’s mercy. A child’s voice pleads for murder. How many times can she get abducted? His toys include high explosives. That’s not booze. Some punks will never learn. An unlabeled box is a dangerous thing. A child’s head explodes. They’re too stupid to be scared. He plans to eat them before they eat him. The first kiss is always special. A knife glistens in the moonlight. Their connection is instant. The top of the train is no safer. It is shocking to find a dead man playing cards. The man who was dead gets killed again. The clergy comes calling. Whatever is behind the door is quite surprising. Act casual. The circle is shrinking. He can’t keep a secret.
  • Episode 11 - Chane Laforet Remains Silent in the Face of Two Mysterious People
  • Here’s what’s what: He would like to explain why his stab wound healed instantly, but he can’t just yet. He wants to know why her friends want to kill her. Monster meets immortal. There are very few strangers left aboard the train. His distant past comes crashing into the present. The enemy of a friend is the enemy. Some grudges can last forever. Mentors and makers clash. Those most in love with violence dance beneath the moon. Emotions simmer to life in her heart though it was made by man. The time between collisions is getting shorter. Monster meets maniac meets mute. Gunfire rings out. He reveals an awful history of pain. There is always more pain. A kid keeps his word. An important man makes an offer. A young man chases a girl.
  • Episode 12 - Firo and the Three Gandor Brothers Are Felled by Assassins’ Bullets
  • Here’s what’s what: An explosion shakes the train. So much torture for one boy. He believes the world revolves around him. A big car can take more body damage. If she is to die, he’ll be the one to kill her. When they reach out to save him, he mistakes them for devils. The one who made her would prefer that she not make friends. He gets shot in the knees. He didn’t expect a flame thrower. He gets shot in the head. The grenade is hidden in the last place he’d look. They run over them with the car that ran over them. They fall off the train. He attempts to save her so he can kill her. He wants to torture him forever. Hostages are hard to hang on to amid chaos.
